MANILA -- Renowned Feng Shui expert Marites Allen welcomed the Year of the Wood Snake with a celebration and blessing in Taguig City on Wednesday.

As she celebrated the Lunar New Year, Allen also emphasized that Feng Shui is for people of all ages and stressed that the Chinese philosophy is celebrated yearly to welcome the Chinese New Year.

"Ang mga Feng Shui mga kaibigan is whether matanda ka na or bata ka pa, parati po ito nating pinagdidiwang every Chinese New Year. Ang Chinese New Year po is iba-iba yung kanyang oras at panahon every year… It is really na something na pinagdidiwang natin," Allen explained.

Allen shared that Chinese New Year brings fortune and affirmed that it is the "perfect" day to set sights on aspirations or desires.

"Ang kaarawan or araw po ng Chinese New Year is napakaswerte po siyang araw. First 15 days of the Chinese New Year–so ngayon is the first day hanggang 15 days until February 12, is napakaswerte po ng mga araw na 'yan," she said.

She highlighted that the loud sounds brought by dragon and lion dance performances ward off negative energies, and encouraged participation in these celebrations.

"Kung gusto mo din mawala yung mga problema mo sa buhay, mga hinanakit, mga paghihirap noong unang panahon, ito na po yung kailangan natin siya i-cleansing," she explained.

Allen further emphasized that the Year of the Wood Snake is very significant as it symbolizes independence and strength. She associated the snake’s ability to shed its skin with embracing "new life."

"Kahit gaano kahirap ang buhay minsan, talagang kailangan mong dumaan sa pagsubok because it is only when dumaan ka sa pagsubok that a new beginning or a new life will come to you," she reflected.

She demonstrated a ritual where she and other attendees wrote their wishes on a paper that she blessed and burned afterward, symbolizing hope for their wishes to come to fruition.

According to Allen, with the absence of the metal element, lucky colors for the Year of the Wood Snake include white, gold, or silver, adding that red is a very lucky color as it is the color of money in 2025.
