Here's good news for theater fans: the classic Filipino zarzuela "Walang Sugat" will be staged in Quezon City this week.

Four shows will be staged by the University of the Philippines (UP) at the Benito Sy Pow Auditorium, which is located at the College of Architecture in its Diliman campus.

There will be 3 p.m. matinee and 7 p.m. gala shows on November 28 and 29, organizers announced in a statement.

Set during the Philippine revolution of 1896, "Walang Sugat" highlights the injustices that Filipinos faced under Spanish rule. It premiered in 1902 at the Teatro Libertad in Pasay.

UP's staging will be presented by director Alegria Ferrer in the traditional concept of the masterpiece written by Severino Reyes in 1898 and set to the original music of Fulgencio Tolentino.

The main roles will be portrayed by a young cast of recent graduates of the UP College of Music: Daniella Silab and Lis Fortun as Julia, and Al Gatmaitan and Diego Alcudia as Tenyong.
