In one of the most exciting editions at the most prestigious beauty pageants in the world, the 73rd edition of Miss Universe held in Mexico City last November 17 concluded with an unforgettable win as Victoria Kjær Theilvig made history by winning the crown for her country of Denmark for the very first time. The 21-year-old dancer and aspiring lawyer bested 124 other contestants, which is one of the biggest number of candidates to ever compete for the annual event since its inception in 1952.

The glitzy pageant competition began with the preliminaries and national costume show last November 14 leading up to the coronation night on November 17 where the pageant announced the 30 semi-finalists before whittling it down to the top 12 finalists who were serenaded during their evening gown walk by American singer Robin Thicke. The event’s main hosts were Mario Lopez and Olivia Culpo, along with backstage hosts Catriona Gray and Zuri Hall.
