<p>Eugene Domingo shared that she has always wanted to focus on building her career in the Philippines rather than venturing outside the country.</p><p>In an interview with Boy Abunda, the actress was asked if she had ever set her sights on Hollywood, to which she responded: &quot;To be honest, hindi na kasama ko sa mga plano ko, even I was younger to be in Hollywood or to have a career outside of my country. I just really love theater when I was younger.&quot;</p><p>Eugene also shared her thoughts on whether Filipinos can make it to the Oscars. She highlighted: &quot;Kung tayo makakapasok sa Oscars, hindi imposible. I read the script and it&#x27;s gut feel. I read it as an audience. If I see the movie, how will I feel it? What is the connection with me? If the script is beautiful, naiyak ako, tumawa ako, pumalakpak ako, nagalingan ako, then I will be in this movie, whatever the role is,&quot; she said.</p><p>She was also asked if there are roles that she will not accept. She pointed out: &quot;Ayaw ko ng role na parang walang, alam mo &#x27;yung walang sustansya, at tsaka walang mensahe. I mean, before the role I am really concerned about the message of the film. Whether it&#x27;s big, whether it&#x27;s small, it has to say something.&quot;</p><p>Eugene recently starred in the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival entery<em> Unmarry.</em> She also headlined the Netflix film <em>Kontrabida Academy</em> last year. The actress is set to star this year in the movie <em>Sisa. </em></p><p>In an interview with Boy Abunda for PhilStar Global in 2022, Eugene shared how she decides on what acting projects to pursue.</p><p>&quot;Sometimes, I&#x27;m really hungry for mainstream movies or indie. So, I satisfy my hunger by feeling what is my hunger now. I try to balance so as not to get tired at what I do. I also go back to my roots, which is theater. When I was at the peak, you know, as a movie star, I truly missed theater so I went back to it by doing <em>Bona</em>,&quot; she relayed.</p>
