Sharon Cuneta talks about motherhood, weight loss journey

<p>For the millions of Filipinos who admire Sharon Cuneta, she will always be their &quot;Megastar,&quot; a moniker given to her to recognize her impact in pop culture. But for her children, she will always be their loving and supportive mother, a title she truly identifies with.</p><p>The Megastar&#x27;s children, Frankie, Miel, and Miguel Pangilinan, received a huge amount of love and life advice from her, and they grew up to become down to earth and responsible young adults.</p><p>As a proud mother, Cuneta told ABS-CBN News, “They’re very good kids. ‘Yun talaga ang dinasal namin mula nang maging mag-asawa kami ni Sen. Kiko (Pangilinan). Una, bigyan kami ng anak. Pangalawa, kapag may anak na kami, mapalaki namin na hindi makasarili. ‘Yung pagdating ng araw, maka-contribute sila sa Pilipinas whether through the arts or something.” </p><p>Every Mother&#x27;s Day, Cuneta stated that a simple letter with a genuine message from her children is enough for her as she does not desire material gifts from them.</p><p>“Since nag-college na sila abroad, nakakauwi na sila ay summer. Delayed nang konti ang Mother&#x27;s Day celebration,” she shared with ABS-CBN News. </p><p>Cuneta added, “They always have cards for me. ‘Yun lang naman ang gusto ko. Hindi naman ako mahilig sa material na bagay. Kasi, I have everything I need. Pero, kapag ‘yung kids ko, they go out on their way to write to me or to show me whatever kahit mag-video or to tell me to my face kung gaano ako kahalaga sa kanila, doon ako sobrang touched.”</p><p>Cuneta, who has been vital in her children&#x27;s personal development, went on to note that Frankie is a graduating student, which is why she is going to New York.</p><p>“Nasa New York na ako sa Mother’s Day kasi gra-graduate na si Frankie. Mauna ako sa kanya. Oo, she&#x27;s graduating na. Okay na okay siya. Hectic na hectic siya,” she told ABS-CBN News. </p><p>The award-winning actress also shared that Frankie shot parts for a new film alongside Elijah Canlas and Jodi Sta. Maria.</p><p>“May movie siya. Hindi lang namin sinasabi. Nag-shoot siya nung vacation with Elijah Canlas and Jodi,” she said.</p><p>She also took the time to address past rumors that her children, including KC Concepcion, fought about money.</p><p>“May lumabas noon na nag-aaway daw ang mga anak namin dahil sa pera. Wala nga akong minana sa nanay at tatay ko, at buhay pa naman ako. ‘Yung mga pinag-awayan nila, mababaw lang. Photo: <em>Handout</em></span></span></span></div><div><strong>Weight loss journey </strong></div><p>At an event hosted by Regal Entertainment&#x27;s Roselle and Keith Monteverde, Cuneta arrived in shape with husband Kiko Pangilinan. Her body may be &quot;snatched,&quot; but she still wants to lose a few pounds.</p><p>“Tumaba ako ng six pounds. Nag-weigh kami ni Yaya. One month na normal na ‘yung kinakain ko. Hindi ako ma-rice. Mga ulam, tinapay, cheese lang. All in all, in nine years since January 2016, ang na-lose ko ay 110 pounds,” Cuneta described her nine-year weight loss journey. </p><p>Cuneta remains disciplined as she continues her weight loss journey, but she does occasionally indulge in cheat food to satisfy her cravings. She also stated that she has already given some of her old clothes to friends and relatives and is now wearing new pieces that fit her finest shape.</p><p>“Nag-shopping ako sa Bangkok. Doon ako nagsukat. Nabigay na sa mga kaibigan, kamag-anak (old clothes). My bra size is big, so I have to wear a medium.
