Krystal Mejes, who first captured hearts as Becca in the 2015 Kapamilya drama series "Doble Kara," is stepping back into the limelight with renewed passion and a fresh start.

Now 16 years old, Mejes began her career at a young age, recalling how her love for performing began with commercial auditions. 

“I started doing commercials first. Auditions, commercials… hindi ako natatanggap. But then my career started blooming sa 'Doble Kara' when I was 7, when I got the role,” she shared.

Looking back on her experience as a child actress, Mejes described it as both exciting and fulfilling. 

“I enjoyed it. It’s my passion. It’s one of the things I want to do in life — acting and pursuing film,” she said. “At the same time, pagod because I was a kid. But hindi ko siya naramdaman kasi I was enjoying what I was doing and I was surrounded by people uplifting me.”

After taking a break from showbiz during the pandemic, Mejes used the time to refine her skills. Her return to the screen marks a new chapter in her journey as an actress.

When asked if she feels any pressure now that she’s reentering the industry as a teenager, she admitted, “I think there’s always pressure naman in everything that we do — especially when it comes to, for example, the responsibility to be an actor. Kasi siyempre, dapat good role model ka sa mas nakakabata sa’yo, sa mga tumitingala sa ’yo. But at the same time, I think I’m using the pressure as a good thing to motivate me more and keep my drive strong.”

Mejes is currently working on two upcoming projects, with details still under wraps, promising a highly anticipated return for the young actress many watched grow up on screen.
