MANILA -- Popular Youtube personality Boss Toyo on Tuesday explained why he opted to decline offers to run for office in the upcoming 2025 midterm elections.

Boss Toyo confirmed that he was asked to run as councilor for the first district of Manila, as well as to be the second nominee for the Pinoy Ako Partylist.

But he believes that public office is not for him -- at least for now.

"Hindi pa ito para sa akin eh. Hindi ko alam kung kelan, hindi ko alam kung tatakbo. Pero para sa akin, wala pa po siya talaga sa isip ko. Noong una akala ko, kaya ko. Saka siyempre, wala akong alam unang-una. Ayoko namang daanin sa pagiging popular o kaya pagiging mabait o matulungin," he explained during an event in Bonifacio Global City.

"Opinyon ko lang ito. Hindi sapat na umupo ka sa kahit anong posisyon kung wala kang alam sa pagpapatakbo," he added.

For Boss Toyo, running for office is a serious matter, with the lives of the Filipino people at stake.

"Mahirap yan kasi tao na yung hinahawakan mo. Governance, kung nasa national ka. Kung mag-co-congress ka naman gagawa ka ng batas," he said. "Ano 'yung gagawin mo kung sumikat ka lang as an influencer?"

"Actually lahat sila pinapatakbo ako, ako lang yung nag-beg off kasi ayokong maging katawa-tawa. Ayoko kasing masabihan na wala ka namang alam," he stressed.

Instead of pursuing a government position, Boss Toyo prefers to perform at election rallies and showing off his passion for music and performing. Now 44 years old, he is determined to pursue a music career -- a childhood dream.

During his birthday event, where the song and the music video for his new single 'Geng Geng' was released, he was joined by his bandmates: guitarist Niko Bacani, bassist Johan Horena, and drummer Renzo Nolasco.

As for his famous Pinoy Pawnstars, he will be opening his museum of precious celebrity artifacts and items this May, and has invited some of past celebrity guests to the inauguration.

In the meantime, he shared the following advice to popular personalities who have decided to run for public office: "Mag-isip-isip muna sila bago pasukin ang politics kasi madaming tao ang umaasa sa tamang tao, sa tamang posisyon."
