EXCLUSIVE: PBB Gen 11 alumnus JP Cabrera shares dream projects, acting inspiration

Just like any other Pinoy Big Brother alumni, JP Cabrera hopes that one day, he will get his shot as an actor.  

In an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN, the former PBB Gen 11 housemate shared the kind of projects he dreams of having in the future, as he navigates his path in the showbiz industry.  

“Kung mabibigyan po ako ng chance na magkaroon ng movie, gusto ko po maging leading man talaga... ‘yung heavy drama, ‘yung mga true-to-life stories. ‘Yung gusto kong magawa na pelikula, ‘yung isasabuhay ko talaga ‘yung stories ng ibang tao,” he said.  

JP also named the actor that he has been looking up to, even before his PBB journey began.

“Si John Lloyd Cruz, isa siya talaga sa nag-inspire at nag-push sa ‘kin para maging artist,” he said. “Bata pa lang ako pinapanood ko na siya. Lalo na ‘yung One More Chance, napanood ko talaga grabe . Siya ‘yung nag-inspire talaga sakin to be an artist.” 

Expressing his desire to follow the actor’s footsteps, he remarked: “Balang araw, promise po ‘yan.” 

In the same interview, JP revealed that the way he developed his love for acting was not an overnight process, adding that his involvement in small films in the past served as his training ground.  

When asked about his take on the concept of love teams, he said he is willing to be part of one if an opportunity comes.  

“Open naman ako sa love team. Sa traits naman (of future on-screen partner), wala naman akong hinahanap specifically. Basta alam mo ‘yun magwo-work kami together and may chemistry,” he said.

For him, celebrities will never go wrong if they know how to properly deal with the people around them.  

“Well, sa akin ang meron ako is ‘yung pakikisama sa tao. Pakikisama nang tama, maging humble kayo. Basta may ganon kayong bagay, magaling makisama, mabait kayo, tatagal kayo sa industry,” he said, talking about a specific trait within him which he thinks will bring his career to places.  

He continued: “Kahit ano saan naman, kahit anong work pa ‘yan, basta marunong kayo makisama.” 

As a PBB alumnus, JP has a tip for the current housemates of the reality show’s ongoing edition: “Magpakatotoo lang kayo kasi doon kami minahal ng tao.” 

JP was among the roster of PBB Gen 11 housemates which includes Kai Montinola, Rain Celmar, Kolette Madelo, Jarren Garcia, JM Ibarra, among others. Fyang Smith was hailed as the big winner of their batch.
