(UPDATED) It's a big year on Broadway for Filipinos this 2025.
Seven Filipinos are currently playing lead roles on Broadway this year, as noted by ABS-CBN News' North America correspondent Don Tagala on Thursday.

Among them are Tony Award winner Lea Salonga, who headlines "Old Friends" with Bernadette Peters. Jasmin Forsberg and Camille Liwanag are part of the show as performer and star dresser, respectively.

Former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, who heads the cast of the acclaimed revival of "Sunset Boulevard." Kristina Garvida Doucette serves as the swing and assistance dance captain, while Sydney Jones plays "Dorothy".

Filipino-Americans stars Eva Noblezada and Darren Criss portray Sally Bowles in "Cabaret at the Kitkat Club" and Oliver in "Maybe Happy Ending," respectively.

Francesca Dawis is prologue musician and violinist, while Chloe Nadon-Enriquez is swing in "Cabaret at the Kitkat Club".

Christopher James Tamayo meantime is standby "Gil" and "Oliver" in "Maybe Happy Ending".

Kay Sibal, also a Filipino-American, plays Katherine Howard who is one of the Six in "Six The Musical" on Broadway. Sierra Fermin will have her broadway debut here as alternate.

Tatiana Cordoba and Claire-Marie Hall, both of Filipino descent, respectively star as Ana in "Real Women Have Curves" and Jean Leslie in "Operation Mincemeat."

"And when Conrad Ricamora comes back in 'Oh, Mary!' as Mary's Husband on April 8, there will be 8 Filipinos playing lead roles simultaneously on Broadway," Tagala noted in a Facebook post.

On top of these, 29 other Filipinos play principal cast or ensemble in 19 musicals and shows so far this year, according to Tagala.

Meanwhile, one Filipino-American is part of an off-Broadway show this 2025.

Among other Filipinos on broadway are Angelica Hale as Trisha and Kathleen Rose Gallardo as assistant stage manager in "BOOP Musical"; Daryl Tofa, principal cast as Two-bit Matthew in "The Outsiders"; Jhailyn Farcon as Imogen and Alaina Vi Maderal as Gwynne, Swing, and assistant dance captain in "& Juliet"; Marc DelaCruz as standby for several characters like Alexander Hamilton and Reanne Acasio for ensemble in "Hamilton"; Don Darryl River as Iago, Angelo Soriano as swing, Bobby Pestka as Prince Abdullah (ensemble), Aaron J. Albano as Henchman (ensemble) and Zare Anguay as swing, dance captaion and fight captain in "Alladin".

Nico De Jesus, Raechelle Manalo, and Niki Saludez are all part of ensemble while Manalo is also assistant dance captain in "Hell's Kitchen"; Kay Trinidad is Fate and KC Dela Cruz is swing in "Hadestown"; Jessica White is ensemble in "The Great Gatsby"; Jeigh Madjus rejoins cast as Baby Doll and Heather Makalani as ensemble in "Moulin Rouge"; while Lissa DeGuzman is ready to defy gravity as Elphaba standby in "Wicked".

Danieli Brackett is Standby Spencer in "Redwood"; Red Conception is Amos Hart until January 2025 in "Chicago"; J. Elaine Marcos serves as Gloria Schmidt/Rita Laritz in "Off"; and Jasmin Malave as Mage in "Dungeons and Dragons".
