Kapuso star Drew Arellano revealed that he underwent a vasectomy procedure earlier this week. In an Instagram post, the Biyahe ni Drew host shared a quick snap of him wearing a hospital gown for his procedure. 

According to Mayo Clinic, a vasectomy is a type of birth control and is considered a minor surgery. A surgeon will cut and seal the tubes that carry the sperm to prevent it being released during an intimate moment with their significant other.

Drew shared that this was his gift for his wife, Iya Villania, for the upcoming Mother’s Day. The two have five children already––– Primo, Leon, Alana, Astro, and Anya. 

“Happy late and advanced Mother’s Day to my wife. 👻 #HappyVA-SEC-TO-MEEE 🎵 #snipsnip #SarapYungSedativeAh,” Drew wrote.

Friends and fans of the Kapuso star admired him in the comment section for going through the procedure. Other netizens applauded him for promoting this type of contraceptive for men and family planning.

It was back in 2023 when Drew opened up about the idea of getting a vasectomy. In an interview with King of Talk Boy Abunda, the celebrity husband shared how serious he was in getting the procedure done.

“You’re the best mother to all the kids, and, uh, I will do my vasectomy soon,” he previously shared.

“That’s the plan. That’s our plan,” he added.

Earlier this year, the couple welcomed their fifth child, Anya, to the delight of their family and fans. The celebrity mom previously shared that while it wasn’t a planned pregnancy, it was always a “welcome surprise” for them and maintained that she will be the last child for them.

“So no, this was not planned, it was not planned but it was always a welcome surprise because I always knew that until I wasn't tied or until he (referring to husband Drew Arellano) [wasn't] tied, we always knew there was a possibility,” Iya previously shared.
