Diego Loyzaga describes his present life as “so boring.” He is unattached at the moment but is apparently open to connect with an ideal girl that he likes.

“I’m on the market and available,” admitted Loyzaga. “If you know somebody, please introduce her to me.

“My relationship right now is with my daughter (Hailey Paige). But it’s also nice to feel loved.

“Is this one-sided? Am I going to find out? I don’t know. Right now, I’m just going with the flow.”

Loyzaga and the mother of his daughter, Alexis Suapengco, a yoga teacher and model, are no longer together. 

In 2022, Loyzaga was rumored to be dating Filipina-New Zealand pageant contestant Franki Russell, his co-star in director Phil Giordano’s “Pabuya.”

Loyzaga was also in a relationship with Barbie Imperial in 2021. They were paired in Fifth Solomon’s romantic drama, “Dulo.”

Loyzaga is happy for his love team partner, Sue Ramirez in their sophomore outing together, “In Between,” showing starting May 7. He’s also envious of her present love life, as Ramirez is in a serious relationship with actor Dominic Roque.

The light romance, “In Between,” is megged by Gino M. Santos. Loyzaga and Ramirez were first paired together in director Jason Paul Laxamana’s “How To Love Mr. Heartless” (2022), where they played young university students.

This time, Loyzaga and Ramirez worked with an intimacy coordinator who coached them on how to do their intimate scenes in “In Between.”

Although nothing was bold, Loyzaga and Ramirez had to do their intimate scenes safely. Viva Films really took care of them.

“It wasn’t just a kiss,” Loyzaga said. “We just had different scenes this time. After how many scenes working together, we did real kiss. Don’t worry, you will not see my butt here. Sue and I had more intimate scenes.”

Since they are both actors who grew up in the industry, Loyzaga and Ramirez did not feel awkward doing those intimate scenes together this time around.

In their roles –- bLoyzaga is Shayne and Ramirez is Gaila –- they play very modern characters in a “situation-ship,” the kind of relationship that Gen Zs get into.

“That’s the reality that couples face these days,” Loyzaga said. “It’s hard to commit to somebody these days. You deserve the love you deserve. Is the relationship just physical or you’re looking for love in the long run or in-betweens.”

“Since it’s 2025, couples now have more options to love or how they want to be loved. I don’t judge how two people get into a relationship. It’s hard to force someone. Everyone has different priorities.

“Others prefer to work or others prefer to look for a serious love life. They have different preferences, but we shouldn’t judge the choices that we make.

“If that’s what makes them happy, as long as they don’t step on anybody’s toes. I hope they don’t go into a relationship with somebody who’s married. I think I’m a serious lover.”

The concept of in-between is someone we want to be with while looking for the right one.

“All of us have a preference in life,” explained director Gino M. Santos. “We choose the one we want to be with. In the end, preference may change. Let’s see if Gaila and Shayne will change their preference.

“I gave the Sue and Diego the freedom to create their respective scenes. I told them malaki na kayo. One of the strongest scenes they did together was their intimate scene. They had the hand to execute that.

“The topics here, mas malalalim ang mga hugot ng tao dito,” Santos added. “This is more emotional than sexual.”

Santos is thankful that his stars were collaborative throughout filming. “They have constant inputs as actors,” he said. “You will see different characters. I’m very excited for the people to see it.”

Loyzaga found it a bit odd that they don’t watch their scenes after executing them. “Every scene that we did, we didn’t get to watch any of them,” said the actor who’s turning 30 in May.

“Direk Gino said, ‘Trust me.’ So we put all our trust in him. That’s what we did.”

Pairing Loyzaga and Ramirez again was never a daunting task. They knew each other and worked together regularly before as co-hosts in “ASAP Chill Out.”

Aside from “ASAP Chill Out,” the pair did a number of teleseryes through the years.

“We were younger then,” said Loyzaga. “Sue and I were always the love triangle of LizQuen or KathNiel. We’ve been working together a lot. I feel really comfortable working with her. I’m really looking forward to work with Sue.

“We don’t talk often, but when we see each other, we’re still the best of friends. When I see Sue now, she’s in a real happy place in her life. When she saw me now, iba rin ang disposition ko in life now.”

Loyzaga hopes there will be a next (third) project for him and Ramirez.

“I hope there will a next one, even with direk Gino,” Loyzaga said. “The characters are definitely older and this is more about love. ‘Mr. Heartless’ was more family-oriented. This (‘In Between’) is more appropriate with our ages and our lives.”
