Actress Sue Ramirez has opened up about her evolving perspectives on love, revealing that she no longer believes in the concept of “The One That Got Away” or “TOTGA.”

During the grand media conference of her upcoming film “In Between,” she said that rather than mourning what could have been, she believes in taking the lessons and moving forward without regret.

“Ako dati, naniniwala ako sa TOTGA. Recently, pinag-isipan ko, is there such a thing?" Ramirez said. “Parang isn’t it, we are here because we are meant for something? It is an experience eh. You learn from it. But if you live with no regrets, walang TOTGA. Recently ko lang na-realize, hindi pala ako naniniwala.”

Meanwhile, when asked about whether she believes in “The One,” Ramirez said love is less about destiny and more about daily commitment.

“I think hindi mo malalaman. Something pipiliin mo. Walang perfect na tao, hindi lahat ng ideals makikita natin sa isang person at ma-a-achieve. Pipiliin mo ’yung taong gusto mong mahalin,” she reasoned.

“Parang for me, love really is a choice. Choosing that is changing person every time. Love mo pa din, hindi nababawasan ’yung pagmamahal mo. Iba-iba tayong tao, hindi lahat ng gusto natin makukuha natin sa isa, but if we choose this person, and we learn to love this person sa kabila ng pagkakamali niya, past njya and future, andoon tayo. More than commitment, panindigan siya,” she added.

When it comes to her current relationship with Dominic Roque, however, Ramirez revealed that there is  “no pressure” between them and they are just enjoying their time together.

“Ang saya lang. Masaya lang kami lumalabas. We enjoy time together. We go on adventures. We eat the best food together. Mahalaga din foundation na you find interests and so far swak naman,” she shared.

Ramirez, alongside Diego Loyzaga, explores the complexities  of these types of romance in Gino M Santos’ film “In Between.”

Ramirez stars as Gaila, a carefree, beer-loving creative, while Loyzaga plays Shane, a heartbroken perfectionist who trades the corporate world for bartending.

The two characters unexpectedly become each other’s “in-between”—a comforting space before finding “The One.” As they navigate their contrasting personalities, a deep connection forms, helping them grow in love, career, and self-discovery. But just as their bond begins to feel like something more, Shane’s past love reenters the picture, putting their evolving relationship to the test.

“In Between,” which will be shown in cinemas beginning May 7, is the second project of Loyzaga and Ramirez, who first teamed up in “How to Love Mr. Heartless” in 2022.
