Inigo Pascual. Instagram/@inigopascualMANILA — Actor and singer Inigo Pascual said Wednesday he is happy that Filipinos can still remember him even after he focused on international opportunities, including Hollywood acting debut in Fox series "Monarch" in 2022.

While he had to create his own name in Hollywood scene as he never shared his already established career in the Philippines, he was happy to try joining auditions and proving his own worth.

"I let my skills talk for who I am. Nakilala nila kung sino ako, sobrang sarap sa pakiramdam din do'n na kilala nila ako na newbie," he said on Teleradyo Serbisyo interview, highlight that he was never seen nor treated as a "nepo baby" abroad.

Just this December, he starred in the apocalyptic thriller "Homestead" along with Filipino-American actor Mark Labella.

Inigo is son of Kapamilya star Piolo Pascual, known especially for his 2016 hit song "Dahil Sa 'Yo". He first joined the industry as a teen star in films like "Relaks, It’s Just Pag-ibig" and "Para Sa Hopeless Romantic."

Now that he's back in Manila to promote his latest film "Fatherland", he said he had many realizations as he welcomes a decade anniversary on entertainment industry.

"I'm happy that people can still remember me after so many years," Inigo shared.

He said working for the film directed by Joel Lamangan challenged him to step up as an actor.

"First time ko maging lead, I'm celebrating my 10th year anniversary in the industry with this movie. I'm glad I'm able to showcase a different side of me, a more dramatic side of me," he explained.

"Fatherland", for Inigo, is a breath of fresh air from his past projects that revolved on loveteams or lighter stories.

"Mas heavy drama, dito lang ako umiyak nang ganoon karami siguro sa lahat ng nagawa kong projects," he said.

Inigo stated there was no special session or training for him for the project.

"Nag-meeting lang kami kasama si Direk Joel at Ara Davao. Couple days after that, diretso na kaming set. Para sa 'kin, kinabahan talaga ako. First time ko makaranas ng set na walang aktor na humingi ng actor's cue, walang actor na humingi ng 'Wait lang, wait lang Direk'," he stressed.

He said Lamangan was among the first directors his father had.

Being surrounded by a renowned director and seasoned actors and actresses like Max Eigenmann, Allen Dizon, Angel Aquino, Cherry Pie PIcache, Mercedes Cabral, and Ara Mina — Inigo mentioned he had to always remind himself that he cannot enter the set not knowing his lines or actions.

He also said him and Dizon, who played three roles, had some good interactions during the shooting. They shared the same dressing room and tent.

"Wala kong naramdaman na kahit anong intimidation. Para kong nakikipag-usap sa tatay ko lang din. Parang kuya, parang kapatid, parang tatay," Inigo added.

Fatherland is now showing in cinemas nationwide.
