MANILA -- Megastar Sharon Cuneta paid her last respects to superstar Nora Aunor on Sunday night.

Accompanied by her husband, Kiko Pangilinan, Cuneta gave Ian de Leon and Lotlot de Leon big hugs as they looked at Aunor's coffin. The couple stayed for over an hour and attended the short program organized by actress Gina Alajar and their church friends.

Cuneta told ABS-CBN News after the short service that she has always dreamt of working with Ate Guy, but it never materialized.

"I think it's everyone's dream na makasama ang 'the greats' and she's certainly one of those. It's an end of a golden era in the industry. Kasi nag-iisa lang talaga si Ate Guy. The original and one and only superstar. Lahat kami, gusto namin maging katulad niya," said the Megastar.

"Isa siyang malaking kawalan, national treasure siya. Yung storya niya, mula sa pagbebenta ng tubig sa tabi ng riles ng tren sa Bicol region hanggang sa maging superstar siya. Talagang inspirasyon sa maraming tao," added Pangilinan.

For Cuneta, Aunor's passing leaves a void in show business.

"Natutuwa ako na she became a national artist habang she had time to enjoy the honor. And she was so deserving of it. It's a very big loss to the industry," she said.

Aunor passed away on Wednesday night at the age of 71. Her son Ian later said that she died after a medical procedure.
