Michael V., also known as Bitoy, paid tribute to the late superstar and National Artist Nora Aunor through a touching Instagram post featuring a hand-drawn portrait of the actress.

On his Instagram page, Bitoy shared the sketch which shows Nora's face framed by a star-shaped background, a fitting homage to someone long celebrated as the country’s superstar.

In his caption, Bitoy recalled a moment from the 1990s when the late OPM icon Rico J. Puno defined what it takes to be considered a true superstar in Philippine entertainment.

He recounted: "'SUPERSTAR.' Sometime in the 90s, narinig ko from the legendary Rico J. Puno kung pa’no maging 'superstar' sa Philippine entertainment industry and he said there are 5 requirements:

1. Dapat number one sa ratings ang TV show mo.

2. Dapat blockbuster sa takilya ang movie mo.

3. Dapat nasa playlist ng radio stations ang mga kanta mo.

4. Dapat sold out ang concerts mo.

5. Dapat maganda ang reviews ng theater/stage plays mo.

Ang hirap, ‘di ba?"

Bitoy then emphasized that there is only one person in the industry who met all those criteria simultaneously. "Iisa lang ang kilala ko sa showbiz na na-achieve LAHAT ito SIMULTANEOUSLY at one point in her career… Si Nora Aunor lang," he remarked.

He went on: "May iba pa ba kayong kilala in this generation sa industriya natin na kayang pumantay sa achievement n’ya? I seriously doubt it. Rest in peace, Superstar. 🙏🏼."

Fans online were quick to react to Bitoy's tribute for the actress.

"I've watched almost all of her movie. Ibang klase talaga ang SUPERSTAR one and only," one fan wrote.

"There can (and will) only be one Nora Aunor, our superstar. Rest in Power, Ate Guy 🙏🏻 You will be missed," another fan said.

According to a report by 24 Oras, Nora Aunor passed away due to acute respiratory failure, as confirmed by her son, Ian de Leon.

"Technically and clinically speaking, the cause of death was acute respiratory failure," he said.

During a press conference, Ian clarified that his mother did not pass away during the operation itself.

"She was being operated on, and after that, she had a hard time breathing, and eventually, all things went downhill from there, and that's why they had to do another procedure after that," he revealed.

Nora passed away at the age of 71 on April 16.
