This Holy Week, Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez looked back on the miracles that have shaped her life over the past few years.

In an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN during Avignon Clinic’s Avignon Translucent Vital event last April 10, Beatrice opened up about the blessings she remains thankful for, recalling how God provided in times of need.

“Everything na nangyari sa akin so far in the past few years,” she began. “Lalong lalo na during pandemic, a lot has happened but I’m really grateful because I lost my job during the pandemic, many of us did, but you know, God really has his ways of providing and not only was I able to provide for myself but I was able to extend my hands to those who are in need.”

She then shared how that challenging period led her to new paths. “During the pandemic, I was able to do a lot of charity works. I started my own charity work, and not only I was able to do social work during the height of the pandemic, it also let me to become one of the reservists of the Philippine Navy.

“And then I became Ms. Universe Philippines, and everything was very much aligned. I won the pageant. Right after the pageant, a calamity hit my hometown, and because of the reach of social media and pageantry, I was able to reach out to my social media followers and they were able to help me, help my community back home in Cebu to recover from the calamity of typhoon Odette.

“So I was very grateful for them and you know, I believe God did His work, not only for me but for the people around me. So that’s one of the biggest miracles that happened to me.”

As for her plans for the Holy Week, Beatrice shared, “Of course, as you all know, I’m not from here. I’m from Cebu, so I’d like to visit my mom in Cebu during the Holy Week. Hopefully hindi ko maabutan ‘yung Holy Week rush and I will be able to spend time with my family.”
