In recent years, several celebrities have opened up about their egg freezing experiences, highlighting the importance of fertility preservation. Here are some local stars who have taken this step and shared their personal journey with the public:

Carla Abellana

Kapuso actress Carla Abellana described her egg freezing experience as transformative, emphasizing the key factors required.

“My journey towards egg freezing has been a transformative experience—one that required a lot of research, emotional preparation, and support. 🫂,” Carla wrote.

Carla expressed gratitude to the medical professionals who guided her through the process, highlighting their compassion and professionalism. She also praised the nurses who reassured her at every step and the state-of-the-art facilities that ensured her comfort and safety.

“I’m incredibly grateful to everyone involved—their kindness, support, and expertise made all the difference. 🤍,” she added.

Carla revealed that she initially planned the procedure years ago but had to postpone it. However, in 2024, she finally found the right opportunity when Kato Clinic opened a branch in Quezon City, making the process more accessible for her.

“A few years ago I had my first online consultant with Dr. Mendiola of Kato Clinic. Life happens so I have to postpone the process for a year and a half,” Carla shared.

Despite the numerous daily injections, Carla remained optimistic and determined to complete the process successfully.

“Another round of injections and tablet medication and I’ll go back in three to four days. So, yeah, let’s keep doing this,” she stated.

Iza Calzado

In 2019, Kapamilya actress Iza Calzado revealed on ANC's Headstart that she had frozen her eggs, citing it as an empowering decision.

"I do want to experience the process once, at least. I said I will commit to one baby, and let's take it from there," Iza shared, noting that she and her husband, British entrepreneur Ben Wintle, had discussed the option early on.

“We have frozen [eggs]... I'm going to keep banking... I have one here but I might try to do it in the States or somewhere where I can prepare for a possible surrogacy in the future," she said.

She emphasized the advantages of egg freezing, especially for women who are not yet ready to have children.

"I think it's (freezing eggs) a very powerful move for women who know deep in their hearts that they don't want to have kids early on," she added. "I wish that I froze my eggs when I was younger."

Gretchen Fullido

ABS-CBN News entertainment anchor Gretchen Fullido also underwent the procedure, describing it as the best birthday gift she could give herself and one way to take control of her future.

“I’m so happy to share this news with you! I finally decided to freeze my eggs! Will document my journey and show you how I did my procedure," she wrote in a previous post.

"Been praying about this for a few years now and my dream finally came true! It’s the best birthday gift I can ever give to myself! Now I can take control of my life, not rush on anything and have a baby in my own time, in God’s perfect time," she added.

Gretchen encouraged other women to consider the procedure, saying, "One piece of advice from me: If you been thinking about it, Go Freeze it! I can honestly say that it’s the best decision of my life."

Sam Oh

Korean TV host Sam Oh detailed her egg freezing journey in her blog. At 36, she considered the possibility of having children and decided to take proactive steps.

“I’m starting to feel a little anxious about the baby situation because, while there’s encouraging literature out there that says data on the rapid decline in fertility rates among women in their 30s is questionable, I also didn’t know when my baby daddy was gonna show up and I wasn’t gonna sit around twiddling my thumbs,” she said.

“I love children and I know that I want my own one day. Plus, I didn’t know what challenges I faced having never been pregnant before. It just felt right to cover as many bases as I can.”

Sam underwent an 11-day process, successfully harvesting nine eggs for future use.

“It sure gives me peace of mind to know that these eggs will be available to me if ever I’ll need them,” she stated.

Vina Morales

In a previous interview with PEP, Kapamilya actress Vina Morales disclosed that she had undergone egg freezing, revealing that the procedure cost around half a million pesos, excluding annual storage fees.

"Oo, suwerte ako, I was able to save seven, healthy siya. Pero ‘yung pangalawa wala, hindi siya healthy,” Vina shared. "Basta at least meron akong na-save... gusto ko lang talaga may healthy eggs.. ‘Yung seven eggs ko hindi ko pa rin masasabi kasi kung minsan hindi mabubuo."

Vina also opened up about discussing the decision with her then 9-year-old daughter, Ceana.

"Sinasabihan ko na rin si Ceana na gusto ko na rin magka-baby. Gusto ko nang iparamdam sa kanya na I also want to have another kid,” she shared.

“Tumatawa lang, hindi siya yung nagsasabi na, 'Oo, Mommy, I want, I want.' Hindi siya super excited. Siyempre nasanay na siya na siya lang for nine years, lahat ng atensiyon ko [sa kanya],” she added.
