Katy Perry shared her preparations for her upcoming spaceflight aboard Blue Origin's rocket on Monday, April 14 (U.S. time).

In an interview with the Associated Press, the singer expressed her excitement over the once-in-a-lifetime experience and her eagerness to learn more about the science behind space travel.

"I'm really excited about the engineering of it all," she remarked. "I'm excited to learn more about STEM and just the math about what it takes to accomplish this type of thing."

As part of her preparations, Katy has been immersing herself in science and space-themed content. "I was winding down from a rehearsal the other day and I was listening to 'Cosmos' by Carl Sagan and reading a book on string theory."

The "Firework" singer shared that her interest in the cosmos runs deep.

"I've always been interested astrophysics and interested in astronomy and astrology, and the stars," she stated.  "I feel like we are all made of stardust, and we all come from the stars, and it will be exciting to see them twinkle from that site and also have such an appreciation for Mother Earth when we see it in that way."

Katy will be part of the historic NS-31 mission aboard the New Shepard rocket, joining an all-female crew that includes Jeff Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sánchez, CBS broadcaster Gayle King, aerospace engineer Aisha Bowe, film producer Kerianne Flynn, and civil rights advocate Amanda Nguyen, according to a report by the BBC.

Katy previously took to Instagram to express her excitement about the historic mission, sharing her thoughts on the milestone. "If you had told me that I would be part of the first ever all-female crew in space, I would have believed you♥️😉," she remarked.

The "Roar" singer reflected on her lifelong sense of wonder, recalling how her imagination shaped her dreams despite humble beginnings.

"Nothing was beyond my imagination as a child. Although we didn’t grow up with much, I never stopped looking at the world with hopeful WONDER!" she stated.

Katy shared that she hoped to serve as an inspiration to others, her daughter included.

“I’m flying for my daughter, Daisy, to inspire her to never have limits on her dreams and show her that any type of person can reach their dreams — no matter your background, your ethnicity, your economic situation, or your education level,” she explained in an interview with Elle USA. “But also to inspire a whole new generation and make space and science glam.”

Katy highlighted the significance of the mission, emphasizing the importance of representation to future generations.

"I work hard to live my life that way still, and I am motivated more than ever to be an example for my daughter that women should take up space (pun intended). That’s why this opportunity is so incredible — so that I can show all of the youngest & most vulnerable among us to reach for the stars, literally and figuratively. I am honored to be among this diverse group of celestial sisters," she stated.
