Kapamilya star Maymay Entrata opened up about the current health condition of her mother, Lorna, and her grandmother, Mama Ludy.

During the Star Magic Spotlight press conference, Maymay revealed that both her mother and grandmother are currently battling serious illnesses.

“Mama Ludy, nasa Cagayan de Oro siya ngayon. Yung treatment niya tuloy-tuloy pa rin for dialysis. Tapos, tsaka yung nanay ko rin. Sabay sila, pero mas malubha lang yung sa nanay ko,” Maymay shared.

The “Amakabogera” hitmaker explained that she had previously chosen not to speak publicly about her loved ones’ conditions to avoid receiving pity from others.

“Yung totoo, galing lang ako sa hospital kasi nga pabalik-balik kami sa hospital ngayon. And, please, kapag sasabihin ko ‘to, huwag nyo akong kaawaan. I just need your prayers lang, yun lang. Yun lang kailangan ko,” she shared.

“Isa sa mga pinaka ayoko talaga mag-open up is ayoko yung parang ano ba, parang may awa kayo sa akin. Pero, I know it will help me din para malaman nyo kung saan ako nanggagaling,” she added.

Maymay revealed that her grandmother is suffering from a lung complication requiring dialysis, while her mother has been battling cancer.

“Yung nanay ko, matagal nang may cancer. Almost two years na. At kaya pabalik-balik ako sa Japan. Tapos, ngayon, ang isa na lang sa pinaka, pinapasalamatan ko ay nakauwi siya two months ago,” Maymay said.

Fighting back tears, she added, “Every day, talagang, tinitake time ko na hangga't maaari, nandiyan ako kasama siya. Tapos, kagabi lang, sinugod na naman namin siya sa hospital.”

Despite the emotional burden, Maymay remains optimistic and faithful, drawing strength from the challenges she has overcome in the past.

“Nalampasan ko yun with the help sa Panginoon. Siyempre, yung acceptance kumbaga nandoon na at nandito ako sa point na kung saan, ay hangga’t may oras ako na makapiling ko yung dalawang nanay ko, gagawin ko. Palipad-lipad mo na ako Cagayan, Japan, pa ulit-ulit, gagawin ko po. Sobrang mhal na mahal ko sila,” she stated.

She admitted how difficult it has been to cope with both her mother and grandmother falling ill at the same time. But she remains grateful for the overwhelming support she receives from her friends, colleagues, and the ABS-CBN family.

“Every time na umabot sa point na hindi ako okay or hindi ko na nakakaya na kontrolin yung emotion ko, nandiyan talaga sila lagi, one hundred percent sumusuporta sa akin,” she expressed.

This marks Maymay’s first public interview discussing her family’s situation in recent years. She admitted that she had previously avoided such topics to protect their privacy.

In a separate interview with ABS-CBN News, Maymay also opened up about how her faith gives her strength during tough times.

“Sa Panginoon ako kumakapit. Hindi ko ma-imagine buhay ko wala ako sinu-surrender. We cannot control our doubts and worries. si God controlled lahat, we surrender. Mas naging ok ako,” Maymay said.

“Mahirap pero kung tutuusin po wala madali sa buhay. Parang na-design mundo natin may challenges. I choose to fight and be strong not just for me but for family,” she said. “Karamay ko pamilya, kaibigan, churchmates, mga mahal ko sa buhay. Mga sumusuporta sa akin. Ayoko may itinatago sa kanila, I communicate in private.”
