Actor Miguel Tanfelix said he didn’t expect his mom Grace Tanfelix’s cooking videos to go viral, as they only started making them as a fun activity during the pandemic.

"Ako hindi ko talaga in-expect kasi dati nung sinimulan po namin ng pandemic, parang wala lang, parang katuwaan lang," he said in an interview with Boy Abunda.

"Tapos nag-hit 'yung kaldereta and then 'yung pinaka-recent 'yung naging trending 'yung 'Okay na 'to.' Dun talaga parang nag-skyrocket. Minsan nga si mommy na hinahanap, di na ako eh."

Grace began posting online videos with Miguel during the height of the pandemic, blending cooking content with humor and skits.

"Idea po ni mommy magluto-luto tapos may skit-skit kami dati. Pero' yung idea na puro ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) lang 'yung kukunan, idea na po ni mommy 'yun," the actor shared.

When asked if he ever felt nervous about his mother stepping into the spotlight knowing that public figures face bashing and criticism, Miguel replied: "Di naman masyado. Nung una may hesitations kasi parang gusto ko hiwalay palagi 'yung career sa personal life, pero kung 'yun naman nagpapasaya kay mommy and nakakatulong din sa career niya, then why not?"

In the same interview, Grace also shared her surprise over the success of her cooking videos, especially her now-famous "Okay na 'to" catchphrase.

"Hindi ko rin po in-expect 'yun kasi 'yun din naman po sinasabi ko every time na matatapos ako magluto. 'Yun talaga sinasabi ko eh. So sabi ko why not gamitin ko ito since hindi ako nagsasalita [sa videos]," she said.

Grace turned "Okay na 'to" as her closing spiel for her videos.

Following her viral success, Grace shared that she and Miguel are now eyeing a business venture inspired by her cooking content.

"Sobrang proud po siya sa leche flan ko and gusto niyang i-share po sa ibang tao and marami rin po akong followers na gusto nilang matikman 'yung aking leche flan," she stated.
