Darren Espanto shared how the ABS-CBN Ball has always held a special place in his heart, particularly as a global Pinoy growing up watching the Filipino channel, TFC.

In an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN, Darren recalled how he used to only see it on the news.

“Nakikita ko lang dati sa balita, sa mga news articles. Kasi syempre, kahit nasa Canada po kami, may TFC po kami. So, nakikita namin lahat, updated kami sa mga ball, sa lahat ng mga nag-away sa mga previous ball. Yun yung mga nakakarating sa Canada sa amin, sa news eh,” he revealed.

He also then looked back on his first-ever Kapamilya ball experience.

“Yung first ever ball experience ko, 16 ako noon. Tapos, noong after party na pina akyat na kami, yung mga minors kami, nina Ylona (Garcia), sina Bailey (May), si Alexa (Ilacad). Kasi, ano kami, parte nung isa sa mga prods. Tapos, noong after party na, yun na, pina akyat na kami. Pero at least naka-attend kami, yun yung first ball experience,” he recalled.

Darren also hinted at what he will be wearing during his fitting at Filipino designer Francis Libiran’s studio.

“This year, ang nasa invite po namin ay spring formal. So, more on pastels, no dark colors mostly. So, ayun po, mostly bright and not too vibrant din. Yung very cool sa mata,” he shared.

Aside from the huge event, Darren also looks forward to bonding with his fellow ABS-CBN artists.

"Lagi naman pong masaya every year kasi ito lang yung isa sa mga events na magkakasama talaga lahat po ng mga Kapamilya artists at saka yung mga, anong tawag dito? Ito po yung isa sa mga events na magkakasama yung Kapamilya artists with the staff, yung mga boss po namin. So, I'm expecting to enjoy the night, have fun, and to be able to see everyone po na hindi ko usually nakakatrabaho or nakikita within ABS-CBN,” Darren told PUSH ABS-CBN.

The singer continued, sharing how he plans to fully enjoy the night: “Yung ibang ball naging performer din po ako, kumanta po ako. So, this year parang hindi naman ako required to sing. Makiki-jamming lang po ako this year.”
