Former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Kai Montinola revealed how she has always wanted to be part of a sci-fi movie. The Kapamilya star shared this during the launch of the Star Magic School for the Creative and Performing Arts earlier this week where she was invited to share some of the lessons she learned as she took on the Meisner class.

Kai has been making a name for herself as she has gained several brand endorsements and was one of the first PBB housemates from Gen 11 to do a cameo after their stint in the PBB house. She previously made a quick appearance in the series Saving Grace which marked the start of her acting career.

The former PBB housemate expressed how the workshops have helped her love acting even more. She shared how acting is more than just reading the lines–– it’s about giving justice to the character you’re given by feeling the moment.

“Entering the Meisner workshop under Star Magic, it was an experience. I came in the workshop thinking ‘oh I will learn how to act, I’ll write some notes, read over it, and then learn about it.’ Pero, the workshop itself, as I’ve said, is an experience,” she shared.

Kai learned the Meisner technique under the supervision of Star Magic School for the Creative and Performing Arts coach Alecx Lorica. The Meisner technique is an acting approach which emphasizes on spontaneous reactions coming from the actors through several exercises such as repetition and improvisation.

She added how her coach guided her during the workshop and provided some tips that are very much helpful for her future acting career.

“Coach Alecx talaga, she was very careful with the words to say. The environment that we were surrounded by, she was very careful with how you should feel and how the act will affect you personally. Kaya lagi niyang sinasabi sa amin that we must truthfully act… Whatever the scene makes you feel, feel it–– be open to it,” she added.

Kai said that because of the workshops she attended, she was able to appreciate the art of acting.

“Doon ko na appreciate that acting isn’t just about pretending or acting isn’t just about having to read a script. It’s more of how you perceive the character, the role that you’re playing. How you would react to it-– how you, yourself, as the player of the actor, would perceive the role you’re playing,” she explained.

She expressed how she would love to do a sci-fi movie if given the chance but maintained she is open to do any role as well.

“My dream role talaga is I wanna be in a sci-fi movie pero as of now, if ever given the chance, I would want to be in a romcom,” she ended.

Kai is just one of the few people that took lessons Star Magic School for the Creative and Performing Arts–– formerly known as Star Magic Workshops.
