The hit drama series Lavender Fields may have ended last January, but the recognition for the show hasn’t ended with actress Janine Gutierrez recently winning Best Drama Supporting Actress at the 38th PMPC Star Awards for Television for her portrayal of the show’s main antagonist Iris Buenavidez. The 35-year-old actress, who played the role of Jericho Rosales’s wife in the series, shared her gratitude in an Instagram post last March 24.

“Iris's happy ending 💫💫💫 thank you so much to the PMPC for this award. I owe this to my incredible Lavender Fields directors @mannyqpalo and @jojosaguin and my forever teacher ate @anagfeleo.  I'm so grateful because this seemed very far from possible. at the beginning of Lavender Fields, I was so sad having just lost my manager Tito Leo (Dominguez) after already losing our dear dreamscape head Sir Deo (Endrinal) a couple of months before. I had no idea how to do any of this, but my directors and ate Ana and my Dreamscape family really held my hand and pulled me through. thank you Miss Kylie, Sir Rondel, Sir Joel, Miss Haze for your love and time. Ily!!”

In the same post, Janine made sure to thank all the people in front and behind the camera who helped her perform to her fullest potential during the entire series run. “what a dream!!!! 🤍 lastly, thank you to my fans and everyone who watched. Ilysm,” she wrote.

Janine also made sure to remember  and give credit to her manager Leo Dominguez who passed away last year. “The Star Awards ran late and I got this award past 12 midnight just in time for Tito Leo's birthday. thank you for getting me here, tito. this one's for you. bye sweet iris you'll forever be my fave baddie.”

In an interview earlier this year, Janine revealed having second thoughts before accepted the role as Iris Buenavidez on the much talked about series.

“Sobrang saya na mapabilang sa cast ng ‘Lavender Fields’ kasi sobrang husay ng lahat ng artista at sobrang ganda ng kwento at nabigyan kami ng oras ng lahat ng manonood. Sana maiparating niya ang isang message of hope na it's not too late na magbagong-buhay, humingi ng tawad sa mga pagkakamali mo."

As for her wish for Iris, a character she's learned to love and understand, "Sana malaman niya na worthy siya of love,” she shared.

Last weekend, Janine made heads turn as she walked the runway in the Bench Body of Work fashion show along with fellow Kapamilya celebrities.
