Aside from the drama and intense scenes Saving Grace: The Untold Story brings to the Kapamilya Primetime block, it also offers unexpected kilig and undeniable chemistry between its two teen cast members, Sophia Reola and Andrez Del Rosario.

In an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN, Andrez shared his excitement upon learning that he would be working once again with fellow former child star, Sophia.

"Sobrang nagulat po ako. Kasi (teleserye) comeback niya rin, pareho po kaming nag-come back. Then kami nga po ulit ‘yung partners. So nung nagkita po ulit kami, andon pa rin lahat ‘yung chemistry. ’Yung parang kahit ang tagal namin ‘di nagkita at ‘di nag-usap, walang nagbago. Parang kahapon lang din po kami huling nag-meet,” Andrez shared.

Andrez added that there was no awkwardness between them, even though it has been years since they last worked together as the child versions of Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto's characters in the 2018 teleserye Ngayon at Kailanman.

“Surprisingly, wala pong awkwardness. Tulad nga po nang sabi ko, parang kahapon lang din kami huling nagkita. ’Di nawala ‘yung connection namin and bond. Masaya po tuwing nagte-taping po kami together. Like, happy-happy lang. Wala pong mga conflicts,” he shared.

Andrez, who plays Vincent, the love interest of Sophia’s Erin in the story, recalled how they instantly clicked as friends even as child stars back then.

"Yung first time po namin nag-taping for Ngayon at Kailanman, sobrang ganda ng location namin. Sa Subic, beach po siya. Core memory po siya para sa akin kasi parang nung first taping namin, naging close po agad talaga kami. He went on to share how they are when the cameras are not rolling: “Si Sophia po kasi sobrang kulit na niya. Pero ako po kasi lagi akong antok. Napaka-antukin ko po sa set. It's either po, mag-throw lines kami, kakain, or tulog."

Meanwhile, the rising teen heartthrob also pointed out how different it is to work now as a teen star compared to when he was a child star.

“Ngayon po, mas mahihirap talaga ‘yung mga roles ko. Hindi na po talaga kami inii-spoon feed ng mga kailangan namin gawin sa set. So, masasabi ko po na mahirap po talaga mag-artista, pero kung gusto mo naman po kasi gagawin mo naman. Gagawan mo ng paraan para magawa lahat ng kailangan mo,” he humbly admitted.

Andrez also shared how he relates to his character in the series, Vincent, the son of the police investigator in charge of the case involving Grace.

"Si Vincent po, actually parang I can somehow relate to the character po  kasi idol ko rin po ‘yung daddy ko in real life. So in that series po, si Vincent  sinusunod niya po lahat ng mga ginagawa ng papa niya para po mapasaya, para po ma-proud ‘yung tatay niya sa kanya. And just like Vincent, I'm with my dad. Si daddy po kasi ‘yung kasama ko in life. ‘Yung mom ko, flight attendant," Andrez shared.

He continued by sharing how challenging it is to play the angsty character. 

“Actually, very complicated na character ni Vincent. Need ko po talaga siya aralin. Marami pa rin pong times na napagalitan ako sa set.”

Thankfully, his fellow cast members, including Eric Fructuoso, who plays his father in the series, offer valuable advice to him when it comes to acting.

"Mahilig po silang magbigay ng mga advice, kasi sila po ‘yung mga lagi ko nakakasama. Natutunan ko naman po kay Sir, or kay Dad, kay Sir Eric Fructuoso po, is ‘pag natatakot kang gumawa ng something, don't let it consume you. Gawin mo lang,” he recalled.  “Kasi napansin ko rin po ‘yun na parang kapag every time na may gagawin po ako, takot na takot ako gawin before mangyari. Go with the flow na lang. Ine-enjoy ko na lang po ‘yung moment as Vincent because I need to live my character.”
