Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11 male housemates Dylan Yturralde, Binsoy Namoca, Marc Nanninga, and Gwen Montano shared their experiences as part of Star Magic’s acting workshop.

During ABS-CBN’s Discover Meisner forum, the four former housemates discussed what they learned from the Meisner acting class.

Dylan, an athlete before entering the entertainment industry, compared acting workshops to preparing for a big game.

“I believe in the art of preparing. Tulad nga ng sinabi ni Kobe (Brown), if you want to succeed, you need to prepare and prepare some more. So before dumating ang work, dapat handa ka kasi you will never know na ‘yun na pala ‘yung magbigay sa'yo ng big break,” Dylan shared. “Sabi nga po ni Scott (Trost) na it builds confidence when you train.”

For Binsoy, the Meisner workshop helped him understand himself better, both as an artist and as an individual.

“Sa pinagdaanan namin na workshop siguro at dito (sa forum), mas lumalim kumbaga ‘yung natutunan ko sa Meisner workshop. Mas nakikilala ko pa ‘yung sarili ko and mas na-express ko pa kung ano ‘yung dapat ipakita ko,” he said.

Marc, who attended an acting workshop for the first time, shared how it also helped him develop social skills.

“This is my first time na mag-workshop for acting so ang dami ko talaga natutunan, like how to express myself and how to be open to others lalo na ‘yung with strangers,” he stated.

He recalled his first day in the workshop, saying, “Ang mga kasama ko is mga workshoppers and fellow talents, and naging open ako sa kanila and naging friends kami.”

From the forum, Marc said one lesson stood out to him.

“Tumatak sa akin dito sa parang meeting natin ngayon, is, ‘yun nga, work on your craft. Kasi, napaka-importante rin,” he said.

Meanwhile, Gwen, who comes from a dentistry background, found the experience refreshing and insightful.

“As a person who had experience with (acting) pero no clear technique, sobrang refreshing when we had that Meisner workshop. It really gave me a strong foundation para I know how to work on it. Kumbaga may para kang guidelines na on how to produce ‘yung goal mo or how do you want the scene to go,” he expressed.

The workshop also changed his perspective on acting. “Parang mas naging clear siya for me compared to dati na walang clear technique, na basta ka lang mag-acting or think about what's going to happen. In Meisner, you're going with the flow. At the same time, you're staying true to yourself. Sobrang refreshing.”

Aside from Dylan, Marc, Binsoy, and Gwen, other PBB Gen 11 housemates such as Kolette Madelo and Jas Dudley-Scales also attended the acting workshops.

In a previous interview with PUSH ABS-CBN, the two female housemates shared what they discovered in doing workshops.

Jas shared how she discovered more about herself.

“One thing that I really discovered is that I’m not that imaginative yet because I feel like I’m very realistic. I think it comes with the background but I’ve learned to be more out there, to be more imaginative, to really point out certain emotions even in a span of ten seconds,” Jas said.

“As of the moment, I’m still honing myself with the craft,” she added.

For Kolette, the Gen 11 third big placer, the workshops helped her realize her potential in acting.

“As a new artist, dati akala ko hindi ako marunong sumayaw, hindi ko talent umacting. Pero ngayon, habang inaaral ko yung acting at sayaw, na-discover ko na kaya ko pala gawin ‘yun lahat basta’t maging consistent and love mo iyong ginagawa mo,” she admitted.

She added that the workshops boosted her confidence in taking on rom-com and horror projects.

On Thursday, February 28, Star Magic conducted a forum in collaboration with Sightlines Actors’ Space, attended by students from the acting technique class. Meisner Institute Executive Director Scott Trost also visited the Philippines for the event.

Several Kapamilya stars were spotted at the forum, including Joshua Garcia, Chie Filomeno, Gillian Vicencio, Jameson Blake, Vivoree Esclito, Kira Balinger, LA Santos, Krystal Mejes, Janna Agoncillo, Alyanna Angeles, Joao Constancia, Shanaiah Gomez, Robbie Jaworski, Emilio Daez, and River Joseph.
