Time and again, actor Gabby Concepcion is being wooed to enter politics, but no one has convinced him yet again. In 1988, he previously ran for mayor in San Juan, where he hails from. Neither is he supporting any politician at this point.

“Politics was actually a dream once upon a time,” Gabby told ABS-CBN News. “Pero hindi ko tinuloy, because I didn’t find the urge. Many are still inviting me to run. But politics is very sensitive. Mas gusto ko ang tahimik na buhay.”

Gabby turned 60 in November last year, while he and ex-wife Sharon Cuneta were on tour in the US and Canada. “Alam niyo, hindi ko pa nararanasan ang mid-life crisis,” the actor said. “I want to experience that because I don’t know what that feels.

“Somebody needs to explain to me what mid-life crisis is in a nutshell. I take things lightly. I always remember what my father told me. ‘Nandyan ka na lang din, galingan mo na.’ I’m not always successful, but I try.”

“Anything can happen to me,” Gabby added. “I can talk about all the good things about health, but there is always something that can happen. Life is short. We need to do the best we can while we have the time.

“We don’t have to regret one day and tell ourselves, ‘I should have done this.’ So, now, we should avoid anything (bad) that can happen to us. And if you will love somebody, loving is a part of life. We need to feel that.

“All out mo na. If something happens, that’s all part of the cycle. If the guy loves you more than you love him, for me, that’s better. Love is both way, two ways. I don’t know what your relationship with that guy or that girl. Whatever it is, you have to enjoy the moment. Be happy. Always be happy.”

Despite being senior at 60, Concepcion remains one of the most sought-after leading men in local showbiz. He is still very handsome and fit as he has gotten better as an actor.

The mWell ambassador recently talked about “Healthy is the New Handsome” campaign of the digital healthcare arm campaign of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC).

“My advocacy is to promote the capacity of wellness,” Gabby explained. “What it can do for all of us. I don’t mind sharing the benefits of wellness. mWell is not only this gadget. It is part of the umbrella of wellness. Everybody will get the chance to have better medical and health opportunities.”

The start of the “Dear Heart” concert tour in the US and Canada undoubtedly renewed his friendship with Cuneta. “From that point on until now, I can see that Sharon holds the teddy bear given to us and that cherishes our friendship.”

His eldest, KC, will turn 40 this April. “I don’t look KC that way,” he said. “To me, KC is still is still 12 years old. She will always be my baby.“

They don’t have any big plans yet for her birthday. “She is not mentioning anything,” he said. “She always says, ‘Let’s go to Batangas.’ We spend quality time there.”

KC prefers to spend time in Lobo, Batangas, where Gabby has a rest house. She gets to bond not just with her dad in Batangas, but sometimes, even with her younger sisters, Maria Samantha and Mari Savannah, thre actor’s daughters with Genevieve Yatco Gonzales.

Meanwhile, Concepcion denied that he and Cuneta will go on tour again this year. Last year, they went to the US and Canada and were away for nearly two months to delight their fans.

“We have nothing planned this year,” disclosed Concepcion. “We don’t know if the concerts we planned to do abroad will push through.

“I am starting a teleserye and that will end in November. I need to work on that. I need to finish that. We will tape four times a week.”

There is also no chance for him to do a new film this year. “We’ve been discussing that, but there’s no story yet,” he said. “There’s no oomph factor to me. ‘Yung nabasa mo na ang script then wala ka pang makita, that has to be revised.

“That’s why I always request when we do story conference. To have that kilig factor. I don’t choose who I want to work with. If there’s an offer for me to do a May-December affair, importante rin ang role. But really, the most important is the story. I don’t have to play the lead, as long as the story is good.”
