It’s been a long known fact that Alodia Gosengfiao’s reputation as an cosplayer is appreciated not just in the Philippines but abroad as well. Alodia had been gracing many international cosplay events because of her impressive costumes and talent. In 2023, Alodia married Fil-American businessman Chris Quimbo in a fantasy-themed wedding and soon after, they started their family with the arrival of their first child, Cameron, last December.

This month, the 37-year-old cosplayer and gamer was happy to share the start of what looks like the early start of her son following in her footsteps!

In a recent Instagram post, Alodia wrote, “Baby’s first cosplay! 😍 Official Dragon Quest Legendary Baby Armor from @squareenix!🇯🇵 Thank you for @cameronishi’s first full costume! He loves it!”

The full-on costume, which was specially built for newborns, is based on the long-running role-playing video game “Dragon Quest” which features a legendary warrior named Roto, or Erdrick. The outfit also includes the sword rattle, shield saddle, armor bib and helmet cap.

Proving that motherhood has not changed some of the biggest passions in her life, Alodia shared what she requested from her husband Christopher during her 37th birthday last March 7.

In a 2023 interview on the Activevision Blizzard site, Alodia shared some wisdom from when she started getting into the cosplay world more than two decades ago.

“Especially if you're competing, you really have to embody the character,” she stated. “It's not just the craftsmanship or the level of difficulty in making the costume. You also have to practice the gestures, the movement, and sometimes even speaking lines and facial expressions.”

In hindsight, Alodia feels that she learned a lot from all that she experienced in the past years. It also helped that she was quite open to collaborations and to learning new things, including creating her outfits by hand.

“I think I'm just very lucky to have an early start, to be honest, because if I started right now, people have such a high level of skill,” she reflected. “Back then, I guess I was very exploratory. I'm willing to learn. I love to collaborate with my cosplay friends. I'm more of a crafter than a seamstress, so I like making weapons and armor. Back then, we didn't have 3D printing. We used to really do everything. We’d do the patterns. We’d craft everything by hand. I guess it’s just being early and being dedicated to this craft for so long, some of my friends fell off the map, but I'm still here!”
