The Kapamilya flagship show ASAP has been running for 30 years, showcasing top celebrities and outstanding performances throughout its long run.

In an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN, Martin Nievera shared his thoughts on what has made the show work for so long.

“I think because ASAP is willing to learn. ASAP is willing to learn, ASAP is willing to follow,” he shared. “I know that sounds weird. Kailangan leader ka, di ba? But we learn from what is trending. We learn from what the public wants.”

Martin added that they also consider Filipinos abroad whenever they plan what to offer on the show.

“We learn from what they want in America and all over the world. Kung anong hinahanap ng mga homesick na Pinoy dahil sa TFC. We learn and we adapt. We don't dictate. We don't tell you ‘this is the way you're supposed to sing and dance. This is the way you should be entertained.’ No, no. What do you want? Who do you want to see? Sino mga favorite ninyo? Or ‘yung mga love teams?” he explained.

He went on to note how even popular and rising love teams, whom fans adore, are given an avenue to reach out to their fans and be showcased on ASAP.

“Doon magaling ang ABS-CBN, ‘yan ‘yung sinasama-sama ‘yung mga love teams. Pero saan mo ipapakita ‘yung mga love teams kung hindi sa ASAP? Kumakanta, nagsisweet-sweet sila, di ba?”

The OPM icon also expressed how the show has become a great platform for everything in showbiz.

ASAP is the perfect platform for anything: comedy, love teams, sweetness, song number, fast number, rock and roll, old songs, old timers, OGs of OPM, the new Gs of OPM. Anything is possible and you can bring this show anywhere in the world and it will be entertaining. It will exist,” he maintained.

Martin continued saying how the show features not just performances from artists, but also shines a spotlight on teleserye stars.

"You can put Ang Probinsyano on our show. You can put all of Coco Martin's hit shows in our show. You can put It’s Showtime into our show. You can put any show in ASAP and bring it around the world. And it's still ASAP that brought you there," Martin shared.

He also shared how excited he is for what’s next in this year-long anniversary.

“We're gonna be celebrating, like I told you, one year of ASAP. It's gonna be interesting how we're going to inject moments and memories of 30 years  into our usual entertaining and fun ASAP,” he said.

Aside from ASAP, Martin is also celebrating 40 years of being a “love team” with fellow OPM star Pops Fernandez.

“Pops and I have been a love team for the last 40 years. We're celebrating our 40th year as a love team. We did a show last February 7 sa MOA Arena and now we're bringing that show to the SMX in Davao. That's on March 16. March 16 in Davao, SMX,” he said.
