After making her long-awaited return to the court this year, professional volleyball player Kim Kiana Dy said she has a busy year ahead, including a busy training schedule that has her practicing with her team even throughout the upcoming Holy Week period. We caught up with KKD (as she is more popularly called by fans) during the Watsons Summer Fun Stopover event held at the MOA Sky Garden last March 3 which she attended along with fellow athlete Jolina dela Cruz.

The 29-year-old athlete shared what she hopes to do when she gets a break from training this summer. “For this summer, I guess I look forward to going on a short vacation, maybe out of the country, and enjoy the break we have and be with the family and loved ones,” she told PUSH ABS-CBN

Whether inside the court or outdoors, KKD said she makes sure to be protected against the heat, as she shared in Watsons Summer themed event, “We’re in the Philippines so expect to be under the sun in hot weather and recently it’s been really hot. What I do is first, I always make sure I’m hydrated because baka bigla na lang ako mahimatay (laughs). And then of course, I also use sunscreen all of the time, even kahit walang sun I like putting on sunscreen just to protect my skin."

KKD also revealed what kind of industry she would be into if she was not involved in sports. As a graduate of Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from De La Salle University, she says starting her own food business would be top of mind. “What I would be doing right now if I wasn’t playing volleyball? Probably I would be a very hands on businesswoman. I want to do something sa food industry, like maybe have a cafe or restaurant,” she admitted.

Currently in a relationship, KKD has been dating Filipino-American basketball player Dwight Ramos since 2020. Kim considers her boyfriend her ‘bestest friend’ and the couple enjoy traveling together to different places when their schedules permit.

Earlier this year, Kim got emotional after undergoing recovery for over a year since suffering a knee injury in 2023 when she was still with the now-defunct F2 Logistics Cargo Movers. On ABS-CBN News, she shared, "Biggest change, I guess as a player, I've been more patient with myself because they journey of me being here right now wasn't really easy. It's been a hard year. I’m still trying to get to my 100 percent and I'm slowly getting there. It hasn't been easy, but thankfully with my teammates and my coaches, they make it easier for me kahit hirap na hirap na ako.”
