Avid Kapamilya viewers might remember Andrez Del Rosario who portrayed the young Joshua Garcia in the 2018 drama Ngayon at Kailanman starring the JoshLia tandem.

Now all grown up, Andrez shared in an exclusive PUSH ABS-CBN interview how challenging it has been to make a comeback in acting, years after playing the young Inno in the primetime series.

"Kung magiging honest po ako, mahirap. Kasi po comeback teleserye ko po ito; ‘yung last show ko po is before pandemic po eh. Mga 12 years old po ako (sa) Ngayon at Kailanman so bata pa po ako (noon)," Andrez said.

The young actor, who is now part of the stellar cast of Saving Grace: The Untold Story, shared that his character, Vincent, is vastly different from his previous roles.

"Yung transformation po ng mga characters ko, parang nag-iiba na po. Kumbaga hindi na po childish, ganun. Hindi na parang bine-baby, ‘yung hindi madali. Mas challenging na po ‘yung mga characters ko,” he explained.

Andrez also reflected on how his previous role in his past project helped him prepare better for his current role: “Mas mabigat po ‘yung role ko dito kesa sa Ngayon at Kailanman. Pero parang madami-dami po dun na crying scenes.”

What Andrez loved most about playing the young Inno seven years ago was that he got to portray the younger version of his idol, Joshua Garcia.

“Masasabi ko po na masaya ako. Masaya kasi before, young version po ni Kuya Joshua (Garcia). Tapos ngayon, parang step by step ko na po nasasabayan ‘yung parang… parang slowly ko na po nasusundan si Kuya Joshua po. Kasi actually siya rin po ‘yung idol ko sa acting,” the rising actor revealed.

Andrez also recalled how great it felt to be chosen to portray the young Joshua Garcia, especially amid the numerous auditionees vying for the role. 

“Gulat na gulat po ako kasi madami po kami nag-audition,” he recalled. “Sobrang saya po sa feeling na na-portray ko ‘yung younger version ng pinaka-idol ko sa acting.”

He mentioned how Joshua can also make people emotional with his remarkable portrayals, even affecting Andrez himself.

“Lagi niya po napapaiyak. Halos lahat ng show niya, lagi niya po ako napapaiyak. Pinaka-recent po talaga ‘yung pinakanaiyak ako ng sobra, ‘yung sa Un/happy For You. Halos lahat ng scene niya dun, ang bigat,” Andrez said.

Aside from taking acting workshops for his comeback, Andrez also has a passion for dancing, which he showcases in his social media videos.

"Actually ako po kasi, ever since I was a kid, maliit pa lang po ako, sa dance po ako nag-start. Mga idol ko po si Michael Jackson, mga ganun. So doon po ako nag-start,” Andrez shared.

He revealed that dancing has actually helped him improve his acting as well. The rising star shared that dancing helps him a lot in getting used to being around many people and makes him way more confident.

”Actually the reason why I started dancing po is para matanggal yung hiya ko. Kaya bumabalik din po ako sa dancing, kasi kapag nagda-dance po ako, nawawala po ‘yung hiya ko talaga. Like parang wala po akong pakialam sa mga tao sa paligid. I use it as a way para masanay po ako na napapaligiran  ng mga tao,“ Andrez shared. “Same way po sa pag-acting. Para pagdating ko po sa set, wala na akong hiya. Confident po.
