Kapuso artist David Licauco revealed that entering the showbiz industry wasn’t in his plans growing up. In a recent TikTok video by content creator Iskul of Dizkarte where the actor was interviewed in his restaurant, he shared how he balances acting and his businesses.

David entered the showbiz industry back in 2017 and has since made a name for himself. He rose to stardom with the undeniable chemistry he has with his onscreen partner, Barbie Forteza, shown in the several television shows and films they’ve made.

In the interview, David shared how he already knew growing up that he would end up going into business. He credited his family as having introduced him to the business world back then. Being in showbiz wasn‘t even an idea he entertained then. This was one of the reasons why he himself was surprised to find himself ending up in the showbiz industry.

“Growing up, as a kid, I came from a family na business oriented talaga. It’s more of like showbiz ‘yung nakakagulat na pinasok ko kasi it wasn’t in my plans. ‘Di naman ako kagwapuhan dati. For me, it was far-fetched, ‘yung acting,” he said.

The Kapuso star added that being business oriented helped him manage the finances that he received from being an actor. He shared how he would invest his earnings in the several businesses he owns –– two restaurant chains and a construction company.

He acknowledged how the showbiz industry changes quickly, which is why it’s important to invest outside of it to secure the future.

“I feel like showbiz kasi is an industry na you never know kung kailan ka pwedeng mawala. ‘Di mo alam kung may show ka, kung magkakaroon ka ng endorsements. Next thing you know, may bagong David Licauco, ‘di ba? I think it’s wise to invest your money in business,” he shared.

In the same video, he revealed that he made around 50 million pesos from both showbiz and the businesses he owns.

David highlighted the importance of being persistent despite the challenges life may throw. He shared how, prior to the success of his businesses now, he had several others that failed –– from a boxing gym to a fast food franchise to a milk tea shop.

“Failure does not define us. It’s a lesson –– a tuition fee, I would say. Mahal na tuition fee, but still tuition fee. I‘ve  failed so many times before but that didn’t stop me from going after what I want,” he added.

For David, balancing showbiz and his businesses isn’t a problem as he can manage his time and is always reminded why he began this in the first place.

“To make my ten-year-old self proud,” he stated.
