As she returns for her second year of hosting the country’s longest running reality show program Pinoy Big Brother, Alexa Ilacad got nostalgic about her PBB experience since she first entered Big Brother’s house in 2021 as the “Smartista Unica Hija ng Pasig” housemate all the way to becoming the "Ang Gen Z Bestie ni Kuya” host this year.

In her Instagram post last March 12, Alexa shared a reel showing her PBB journey accompanied by the caption, “Feeling nostalgic 💖 3 years ago na yun? 🥹 From housemate, to host - I’m very grateful for the 'upgrade.' Salamat sa lahat ng sumusuporta sa akin at sa @pbbabscbntv 🏡 Another chapter is unfolding so sit tight, everybody!”

The newest season, which has been dubbed Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition, is a collaboration between GMA Network and ABS-CBN Studios and features artists from both networks. Alexa joins PBB’s roster of old and new hosts which includes Bianca Gonzalez, Robi Domingo, Melai Cantiveros, Gabbi Garcia, and Mavy Legaspi.

In a previous interview with ABS-CBN, Alexa shared how she manifested venturing into hosting when she first returned as a host in PBB Gen 11 last year. “Dati, wini-wish ko lang na, ‘What if maging host ako?’ Pero hindi ko naisip na PBB agad. Sabi ko lang, ‘What if try ko lang mag-host ‘pag may opportunity? I’m very honored na naging parte ako ng pamilya ni Kuya. I feel legit. Hindi ko na naisip kung kaya ko ba ‘to. Wala. Oo na agad, Aayaw pa ba ako?'”

Alexa also recalled what happened during her first night hosting PBB in the same interview, “Hindi ako normally nadadala ng kaba; nako-conquer ko siya. Pero no’ng gabing ‘yon, grabe, pawis lahat, nanginginig, nagba-buckle pa ako sa sobrang kaba.”

During an interview in an episode of Kapamilya Journey of Hope with Father Tito Caluag in 2022, Alexa also shared her learnings as a housemate in a guesting along with KD Estrada.

“It was hard to open up inside the house. I was scared. Super scared. I told Kuya I don’t know how people are going to accept me or look at me after,” she revealed.

Alexa also shared one of the biggest lessons she learned from joining PBB, “Take it one step at a time and do it on your own pace. Life is not a race and that’s something we really need to remind ourselves. Social media adds so much pressure to us, even to the younger or older generations. Parang ang hirap mag-keep up sa mundo if we focus on other people.”
