Carlo Aquino expressed his gratitude that his wife, Charlie Dizon, makes an effort to have a close relationship with his daughter Mithi.

The four-year-old is his child with former partner Trina Candaza.

“Na-appreciate ko effort ni Charlie and sobra din love niya for Mithi,” he said in an interview during his contract signing with Viva in Pasig City, Thursday.

“Minsan pag tumatawag siya sa akin si Charlie na hinahanap. ‘Daddy, where is Tita April,’” he added.

Aquino explained that he and Dizon always give Mithi their full attention when they spend time with her.

“Everytime pumupunta samin, ayaw umuwi— ganon. Pag nasa amin, full attention kasi: So pag kinukuha in namin, sinisiguro ko time namin is for her lang,” he reasoned.

The actor also shared that he and Dizon engage in various activities with Mithi to strengthen their bond, ensuring she feels loved and valued.

“Pag kasama namin, minsan nag cacamping kami. Noong Christmas nasa La Union kami,” he noted.

According to Aquino, he hopes Mithi will soon have a baby brother or sister— but clarified he and Dizon are not rushing and are just enjoying their time as newlyweds.

“Sana po soon, pero siyempre di kami mag decide. Siya [God]  pa din mag decide sa tamanf panahon, kung kailan kami ready. Waiting and praying but ngayon siguro mag work muna kami,” he said.

“Kami kasi panibago chapter, kakasal lang. Buhay namin ngayon beginning… Sobrang maalaga si April [Dizon]. Tinatry ako lutuan. In the morning ginagawan ako Kape. Na-appreciate ko mga bagay na ganon,” he added.

The actor also marked a new chapter in his career after signing a contract with Viva. Aquino was already previously managed by the agency from 2005-2011 before moving to Star Magic.

“Para sa akin, kailangan gumalaw, kumilos, para di mo feeing stagnant ka. For the past three years, wala kasi ako series, puro movies. Hindi nila ako binakante noong pandemic, alam natin hirap noon kaya super pasalamat ako,” he said.

“Yung future ko sinabi nila na build talaga nila ng maganda. Marami leading ladies pwede partner. May mga inoffer sila na romance and nagusuthan ko,” he added.

According to Aquino, while the decision was not easy, he believes it is best for his career— where he hopes to take on more challenging projects.

“Parang naka tatlong meeting kami kay LMD. Sabi niya OK na nga, OK na, pero pag gumaganon, lalo ako na dudurog. Buti na lang naintindihan nila ako,” he recalled.

“With Viva I hope to try new things— Suspense gusto ko gawin, thriller ganon. Saka Sitcom, never pa ako nagkaruon ng sitcom… nag pipitch din ako ng mga gusto ko gawin. Very open sila,” he noted.

Aquino is set to star in the upcoming series “It’s Okay to Not be Okay,” with Anne Curtis, Joshua Garcia and among others.
