MANILA — Actor Albie Casiño admitted that while fatherhood was his most unexpected role, it has undeniably become his best one yet.

“It is so fulfilling. I can’t explain talaga. I used to not want to have kids. I thought of never having kids,” he said in an interview with ABS-CBN.

Casiño shared he finds his greatest joy in being a hands-on dad, cherishing every moment as his son Roman Andrew grows.

“Now, I'm teaching him to go down to the bed, he has teeth na. Seeing him grow, it is so fast. Iba feeling. When he is learning basics — from close open to waving... amazing. I try to wake up with him in the morning, 'di pa siya diretso mag-sleep. Sometimes I change his diaper when I get home,” he explained.

The actor, however, said that his journey to fatherhood is not without challenges.

“You are like shaping another human… It is so overwhelming talaga. I was saying I have so many fears now I never thought I’d have to think about,” he said.

According to the “Can’t Buy Me Love” star, fatherhood has made him more discerning in choosing roles.

“I had to turn down some roles. There was one. I was with an old director si Gino Santos, but I did not like the role. Before I would never do that. I just take any role. I didn't even have to think about it. Iniisip ko makita niya, not something I want him see,” he reasoned.

Apart from celebrating his son Rome’s milestones as he turns a year older this 2025, Casiño is also checking off items from his own bucket list.

The actor kicked off the year by starring in his first comedy film and debut project as a Viva One artist with “Sampung Utos Kay Josh,” which premiered in cinemas nationwide on Jan. 28.

“I was doing this in between 'Can’t Buy Me Love,' sobrang serious. I knew I'd have to do it — but when I read the script tawang tawa ako,” Casiño said.

According to Casiño, he is eager to take on bigger challenges this 2025, starting with his upcoming role in a hit series.
