<div><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/UJDVenYkJrk?si=VyyuW_IF4InM5Fp1&amp;start=2" title="YouTube video player" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div>Former actor and public servant Patrick Dela Rosa <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/showbiz/celebrities/2025/10/27/former-actor-and-politician-patrick-dela-rosa-passes-away-at-64-2041">passed away last October 26</a> due to complications from lung cancer, his eldest son Bruce Miguel confirmed to ABS-CBN News.Bruce granted the interview to clarify misinformation that had circulated online about his father’s passing.Patrick peacefully passed on last Sunday, October 26, at exactly 5:35 in the afternoon, Pacific Standard Time. Bruce shared that his father has been battling lung cancer for three years.“We found out about his condition during a cruise in Bahamas when suddenly started complaining about... hindi naman siya shortness of breath pero hindi talaga siya makahinga. He was checked then, and then he has water in his lungs and it was filling both left and right,” he said.  Bruce added that this was the main reason why Patrick wasn’t able to fly back to the Philippines because his medical condition made him incapable of taking commercial flights. In fact, during his treatments and check-ups, it was also difficult to bring him to the hospital.“When we found out about that, hindi rin siya ma-transport through a regular ambulance, but ina-ICU jet pa siya to the nearest hospital. And then he was in the ICU during that time.”He added, “Then pagkatapos nun, he was flown again to Bakersfield, California where my stepmother lived.”Patrick remarried and has been living with his new wife Arnie Bella Dela Rosa for 13 years in Bakersfield, California. Arnie has been on Patrick’s side while battling cancer.“The last three years of that 13 years dito na talaga siya based sa America, ‘cause he was having his treatments as what I’ve mentioned. And he actually got better,” Bruce said.“In fact, last year he was able to go back to the Philippines nakabisita pa siya ulit. And then I believe his most recent trip was in Portugal in Europe, and then lagi rin sila nagku-cruise always. After showbusiness and politics, &#x27;yun na talaga ang ginagawa ni Papa. Hilig lang niya is to travel really and enjoy na lang &#x27;yung mas simpleng buhay.”Last October 14, Bruce flew to the US when he found out that his father’s condition was worsening. He got the chance to have peaceful and light conversations with his dad.“Si Papa kasi, ayaw niya ng any negativity in the room. Gusto niya masaya lagi. All the conversations, nagpapatawa pa rin siya. Magbo-boxing siya kunwari, he also started doing pickleball dito sa Amerika. He would show us how he would do his serve and all that.”Bruce said Patrick was surrounded by his loved ones when he passed away.“I would say it was very peaceful for him. All the siblings, the whole famil,y were here in the States, including &#x27;yung mga kapatid ko,” he said.As for the funeral and interment, Bruce said they are finalizing the plans. &quot;There will be a memorial service here in Bakersfield, California. In the next days, we will be able to decide as a family if iuuwi namin siya ng Manila, ng Philippines, o he would stay here na kung nasaan na &#x27;yung bago niyang buhay,” he said.Bruce also would like to thank all who have sent their condolences and messages of sympathy. “Maraming salamat po, we just really hope and pray na tuloy-tuloy nating ipagdasal ang aking ama na si Patrick and I also hope his legacy in showbiz as well as being a public servant will live on and hindi po natin siya makalimutan.”
