“I don’t really mind that anymore. I don’t sound the same anymore but I’ve grown to love how I sound now kasi ito na iyong pinoproduce ko now. Bagamat iba siya 20 years before, but because I have so much experience pati passion ko sa pagkanta, mayroon namang inimprove pagdating doon,” Regine expressed.

She went on: “Sabi ng asawa ko sa akin, someone when I sing parang somehow more soulful. I really sing differently now than before. Whatever song I have to sing, iba na talaga. Bukod sa iba na iyong boses, dahil sa marami akong naranasan sa buhay, ibang iba na talaga and I’m happy about that.”

Regine also emphasized how she now focuses on enjoying her career and being grateful for the opportunities she continues to receive.

“Ganoon yung buhay eh, plus it only hurt you if you don’t accept the reality of showbizness. Lagi kong iniisip, like you said, na naging mabango ka. Na-experience ko na iyon and ngayon ienjoy ko na lang kung ano pa iyong nandyan. I’m just very grateful that I’m still here,” she remarked.

“More than anything else, I’m just grateful na nandito pa ako, may raket pa naman ako, may nakikinig pa sa akin, may nanonood pa ng concert, may concert pa nga ako. Nothing for me to complain about.”

With a career spanning over three decades, Regine understands that new talents will eventually take the spotlight.

“Inaccept ko na lang na hindi na time. We are all given specific time na dito ka mabango but later on medyo mayroon nang ibang dating na mas mabango sa iyo pero mabango ka pa rin. Okay na iyon. Happy na ako,” she stated.

Regine started her singing career more than three decades ago. She has been recognized internationally for her powerful performance garnering her the title of "Asia’s Songbird". She also worked alongside different artists from different generations and became an icon and inspiration.

With her colorful career, Regine revealed that she and her husband, singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid are actually thinking of retiring. However, she always finds herself returning to do what she loves.

“Mayroon din akong ganoong thinking but I figured, I can still sing eh. Nandyan pa naman siya kumbaga I might sound different from before, obviously kasi alangan naman I still sound in my 20s but I still have this gift and I’m supposed to share it,” Regine shared.

“Kaming mag-asawa, naiisip na rin namin kung kailangan kami slowly magpapahinga na pero kasi noong nanganak ako nagpahinga na ako,” she recalled.

“I had that 6 years na break and then when I moved back sa ABS, parang gusto kong kumanta ng kumanta.”

Regine is also passionate about supporting new artists, believing in paying forward the help she once received.

“Noong nag-umpisa ako, maraming sumuporta sa akin, sila Martin (Nievera), Pops (Fernandez), sila Zsa Zsa (Padilla), Gary (Valenciano), si Kuh (Ledesma), Ivy Violan, Nanette Inventor,” Regine said. “Ang daming sumporta sa akin as in iguest nila ako sa concert nila, I was totally unknown pero iguest nila ako sa concert nila.”

“So noong medyo umokay na yung pangalan ko, parang medyo na-establish ko na iyong sarili ko, parang ayon yung naging purpose ko na now na to also support new artists. Parang paying it forward kumbaga. Hindi naman pwedeng aakuin mo, hindi pwedeng ikaw na tinulungan tapos maramot ka na.” she continued.
