After being part of the 2024 Metro Manila Film Fest entry Topakk, actor Enchong Dee said he really enjoyed last month’s holiday season, even if he was also busy working to promote their film.

“Mabuti ako, masaya, maganda ang salubong ng 2025. Basta, sinimulan ko yung taon ng masaya, kumpleto yung pamilya at saka ready to embrace all the blessings,” he told ABS-CBN during the Lander’s 8th anniversary grand draw event in Arca South, Taguig City earlier this month.

The 36-year-old actor said that even though fans were hoping that he would have a bigger role in the MMFF’s only full action project, he was happy with his work there.

“Well, nung nagsimula naman parang it was really to support Arjo (Atayde) and for Nathan Studios tapos parang nanganak ng nanganak yung development ng character na parang may back story na siya. Alam mo yun? I’m just happy na yung mga ganung roles that I’m always considered by the producers. Malaking bagay yun eh,” he added.

Having been in the industry for over 18 years doing various roles, Enchong revealed that one of his dream roles has always been to portray the first ever Filipino saint Lorenzo Ruiz.

“Gustong gusto ko pa talaga magkaroon ng isa pang historical film. Hopefully, isa sa mga gusto magampanan, hopefully, si Saint Lorenzo Ruiz. Given the chance, kung mabibigyan talaga ng pagkakataon, siya yung gusto ko. I was named after him. My mama, nung time na ipinagbubuntis niya ako, may chance na malaglag ako pero pinagdasal niya ako and yun yung dahilan bakit Ernest Lorenzo Dee ako. May dahilan kumbaga. But let’s see. Hindi natin alam,” he admitted.

Enchong said that he is excited that a project he shot with director Brillante Mendoza last year will finally be shown in 2025 and is set to participate in international film festivals.

“Sobra akong excited kasi I think this year lalabas na yung film na shinoot ko. So hopefully it will around sa mga film festival. Let’s see kasi hindi ko pa alam kung saan siya iikot,” he said.

When asked how he avoids getting impatient when projects have delayed releases, Enchong said he does not believe in stressing himself out waiting for it.

“Nanininwala ako kasi dun sa kasabihan na in God’s perfect time? Kasi hindi mo alam kung saan ka dadalhin ng isang pelikula and sabi ko after all that I’ve been through, sabi ko ayoko na pangunahan yung Panginoon.Kung meron siyang magandang plan sa akin, maghihintay ako,” he added.
