Abi Marquez, also known as the "Lumpia Queen," opened up about her feelings as she continues to receive recognition and achieve milestones in her career as a home cook and content creator.

In an exclusive interview with PUSH at Manduca Restaurant in BGC, Abi admitted that at first, she felt scared by the overwhelming recognition she has received over the past three years since starting her content creation journey.

“For collaborations, I worked with the people I admire the most so may ganoong unting fear na ano pa ba yung pwede kong gawin. Have I peaked just because I’ve gotten super close to the most I can achieve?” she asked herself.

Despite her doubts, Abi feels proud and grateful for how far she has come.

“Noong nararamdaman ko noon was aside from that fear, it really is the honor and the gratefulness that I’ve been doing this for only two to three years,” she expressed.

“Nangibabaw din yung feeling ng pride sa akin kasi nandoon ako because of my work and my work is making Filipino food videos and also a matter of knowing who I represent and talagang nagcommit ako sa sarili ko na I am going to receive these awards as a Filipino na home cook. I will wear a Filipiniana and I will bring my culture because that's what brought me to do this,” she added.

In 2024, Abi won the People’s Voice Award for Food and Drink in Social at the Webby Awards in New York City. She was also shortlisted for a James Beard Award for Best Social Media Account and made it to the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list.

As 2025 began, Abi's journey took another exciting turn when she met and cooked for her ultimate idol, Gordon Ramsay. When asked about her long-time dream, Abi said she had already achieved it and is now ready to dream even bigger.

“Si Gordon talaga. When I met my manager for the first time, my management Nyma, tinanong ako ano pinakaultimate kong dream and I think in my interview I always say it’s to collaborate or meet Gordon Ramsay,” Abi happily stated.

“Aside from him being hailed as one of the most credible people in the industry, yung impact niya sa akin as a foodie, as a creator, is that he has inspired me for many many years to learn how to cook, to be skillful as he is. And as a creator naman is to have the unique combination as a chef or as a cook and also his skills in entertainment.”

Looking back, Abi recalled how her famous lumpia series began.

“It was all accidental or it was life that led me to do it. The lumpia wrapper series was born out of me seeing leftovers from a trip or an outing and just really answering the question what happens when I wrap a marshmallow in a lumpia wrapper,” Abi recalled.

Abi is grateful for the title "Lumpia Queen" given to her by fans. Though she’s open to trying new things, she’s not ready to let go of the lumpia concept.

“Marami pa. So far, I’ve had maybe 20 or 30 lumpia experiments so you can only imagine millions of other things that I can only put in lumpia wrappers, But on lumpia wrapper plans? Wala pa at the moment eh,” Abi said.

“Actually, hindi ko muna siya masyadong ginagamit kasi I want to explore other dishes and ayaw ko kasi makahon doon sa puro lumpia ang ginagawa.”

She added, “I want to keep the content refreshing but once in a while when something is trending, when I do collaborations, people want to see my brand or my thing in those videos kaya naglulumpia ako. For special occasions like this, maglumpia ako.”

Looking ahead, Abi is excited to entertain even crazier ideas, teasing, “As of now, I will only entertain crazy ideas. Naisip ko magic water in lumpia wrapper.”
