MANILA -- Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) administrator and former host-comedian Arnell Ignacio is going back to his roots and will be performing again onstage for a post-Valentine's dinner show at the Century Park Hotel on February 15.

Ignacio admitted that he was surprised that his producer was serious about putting up the show.

“Narinig lang niya ako kumanta, nagulat ako may poster na. Ano pang magagawa ko? I won’t deny na nami-miss ko naman din. Eh alam mo naman itong producer natin eh way back ‘80s pa, sing-along (bar).Masarap din naman, nami-miss ko din naman kumanta,” he said.

Still he has reservations. “Wala yatang nakakaalam na kumakanta ako. Ang alam ng new generation ngayon, ako ay government worker,” he said.

“Pinapakanta sa akin 'yung ‘Spain,’ eh jusko wala na yatang nakakaalam sa kantang ‘Spain’.”

When asked if he will be performing current tunes like that of P-pop groups such as SB19 or BINI, Ignacio said, “Ang mga pupunta naman dito ay ‘yung hindi fans ng SB19. Eto ‘yung mga tropang Lozartan, Metformin, mga nag-re-request ng assistance. I’ll be so happy to see all of my old friends back.”

“This will be more of a reunion of very, very good friends,” he said.

Igancio will be joined by the fifth generation of the New Minstrels, Chad Borja and more.  

“Mas komportable na 'kong audience, mas nasisisyahan na ako na OWWA administrator na nagdadala ng mga artista!” he said.

Igancio also shared why he has no plans of running for public office.  

“Flop naman ako! Nahatak lang naman ako dun. Flop ako dun. Masyado lang ako, ‘yung ugali ko lang prangka,” he said.

“Ang posisyon na may ganyang kalaking responsibilidad, destiny ‘yan. Kahit ano pang gawin mong pagtitiwarik diyan at lahat ng resources ibigay sa ‘yo, ‘pag hindi sa 'yo, hindi sa 'yo.”
