Kapamilya actor John Arcilla continued to give his two cents on the viral incident involving a sampaguita vendor and a security guard earlier this month. He took to his Instagram to share how the two symbolize a bigger problem, not only in the country but in the world.

The sampaguita vendor has broken her silence about the allegations of her being part of a syndicate. She was revealed to be a 22-year old college student who was only selling sampaguita for her educational fees.

Meanwhile, the security guard has been relieved from his job. Furthermore, SM Supermalls said in a statement that he will not be allowed to service any of their malls.

In his post, John shared how the problem between the two in the viral post talks about “poverty, mental condition, responsibility, and negligence.” He believes that the security guard and the sampaguita vendor are both liable and victims of circumstance in this case.

“We agree that Guards were just following orders, and while there are various ways to implement orders, we all have differences in practice or degree of forcefulness to exercise our choices, so let us not wallow in discussing standards,” he wrote.

The Kapamilya actor added that the administrators of the mall could have made an effort to report the issue to the police if the allegations of syndicate were true. He then questioned if security guards should have the “sole responsibility” in eradicating these syndicates away from the mall.

After finding out about the background of the viral sampaguita vendor, John continued that while she wasn’t part of any syndicate, it doesn’t mean that it isn’t happening elsewhere

“Then again, let us look at the premise that there are, and SOME SAMPAGUITA VENDORS ARE MEMBERS OF A SYNDICATE. Since I was a kid until today, I have been hearing about “these people” or even beggars in costumes carrying tots being members of some “syndicate” and somehow they look like it,” he added.

He urged the proper authorities to look further into this and make sure to put an end to these types of syndicates so that someone like the viral sampaguita vendor wouldn’t be mistaken for one.

For John, the real change comes when not only individuals act on the matter, but when the whole community chooses to move forward with a goal in mind.

“Whatever is happening to us as an individual and as a community, we choose; whoever dominates us as humans, and as a territory is our choice; what we ignore we accept,” he ended.

Fans of the actor shared their thoughts in the comment section, with the majority agreeing with his sentiments.
