The 1980s showcased the rise of several publicity stunts to promote the then up-and-coming artists which included four sexy starlets of the late talent manager Rey dela Cruz. Known as the Softdrink Beauties, these four controversial young artists took on the challenge to show what they can to please the audiences back then.

“I’m not a pimp or bugaw. Hindi ako gumagawa ng artista para maging prostitute. Gumagawa ako ng artista para panoorin ng tao at magkaroon ng decent hanapbuhay,” he previously shared.

Starring in movies such as Snake Sisters and Naked Island, the Softdrink beauties quickly rose to fame and made a mark in the entertainment industry.

Mirinda Manibog

Considered as an honorary member of the Softdrink beauties, Mirinda was recruited by the late talent manager alongside the other three.

Now known as Myra Manibog, Mirinda retired from the entertainment industry several decades ago. She focused on her family–– three out of her four children are members of the band Skip Reality. 

After shifting her focus from acting to becoming a supportive mother, Myra can be seen on Facebook and is actively posting on her profile for the public to see. 

Coca Nicolas

Coca, whose real name is Johnnalee Hickins, has also retired from the showbiz industry and is now based in Pasig City. In a vlog released by news anchor Julius Babao, the former sexy actress shared how the late talent manager asked her mother’s permission for her to enter the showbiz industry. 

She recalled being emotional in her first-ever photoshoot where she had to wear revealing clothes–– something she wasn’t used to. 

“First time ko magpakita ng ano… Sa Japan singer lang ako. Hindi ko alam na sexy star nga ang papasukin ko. Akala ko drama lang,” she recalled.

Coca is now a family woman–– having children and grandchildren who visits her from time to time. 

Sarsi Emmanuelle

Just like the other two, Sarsi also left the showbiz industry to live a normal life that she now enjoys. Despite being dubbed as a sexy star, the former actress proved she is more than that as she was previously nominated for Best Actress in the prestigious award-giving body, Gawad Urian, for her role in Boatman. 

Now known as Jenniffer Mitchell Papillero, she is mostly active on her Facebook account where she gives a glimpse of her everyday life to her followers.

Pepsi Paloma

Born in 1966, Pepsi rose to fame alongside the other Softdrink beauties and even starred in multiple films prior to her passing in 1985. Pepsi, who’s real name was Delia Smith, became the breadwinner of her family after being scouted by Rey when she was just 14 years old.

Despite passing away several decades ago, Pepsi continues to be a topic of discussion in popular literature due to her sudden demise.
