Maris Racal returned to social media and announced the release of her new song "Perpektong Tao."

On Thursday, January 16, the Kapamilya star posted: "Writing this song healed me in ways I never thought possible. It was born from a journey through pain, regret, and the courage to seek forgiveness, a reminder that even in our darkest moments, we can find light."

She went on: "I’m sharing this with the world, hoping it resonates with those who need it most."

"Perpektong Tao" was released on music platforms on Friday, January 17.  

In December 2024, Maris was embroiled in a controversy with onscreen partner Anthony Jennings.

Screenshots of her intimate conversations with Anthony surfaced on social media, which was uploaded by the actor's ex-girlfriend, Jamela Villanueva.

"When I read it, I was gutted. I was shocked. I’m truly, truly embarrassed. Dahil nakita lahat ng tao ‘yon without my consent, against my will," Maris said in an interview last month. 

Maris said that Anthony led her to believe he had broken up with Jamela before he began courting her.

"He would tell all the people who were close to me that he was single. So, I was confident to act a certain way around him on the set. Because in the eyes of the people there, we were both single," she remarked.

The Kapamilya actress stated she was kept in the dark and had no idea that Anthony and Jamela were still in a relationship.

"I asked him, nagkabalikan ba kayo? He said no. Do you still love her? He said no. He would say things na ako yung gusto niya and all. I really asked him so many times," Maris said.

She remarked that it was when the screenshots surfaced that she realized why Anthony couldn't release a statement about the status of his relationship.

"This is my side. And I’ve been reading those screenshots. Dun ko na pagtagpita-tagpi lahat na kaya pala hindi siya makapag-release ng statement. Dahil sila pa pala this whole entire time. I didn’t know. I was in the dark. I didn’t know. I had no idea," Maris said. 

The actress made her first public appearance since the controversy during the Incognito fan conference at a mall in Taguig this January.
