Actress and vlogger Riva Quenery and her ex-partner, Vern Flores Ong, shared emotional messages on social media following their breakup announcement on Monday, December 30.

In her Instagram story, Riva expressed gratitude to Vern and their five-year relationship as a couple.

“Thank you, Vern. Thank you for the five beautiful years. While things didn't turn out as we hoped, I still want you to know how much I appreciate the good moments we shared,” Riva expressed.

The former GirlTrends member also noted how she would continue to cherish and support Vern, despite their separation.

“I've learned so much from our time together, and for that, I am grateful. I will always care for you. You were my best friend, and I have never loved anyone like you. Always remember that I'm rooting for you, no matter where life takes us,” she added.

She ended her message, saying, “Thank you for being such a beautiful part of my story. I will carry those memories with me forever. You'll always have a place in my heart.”

Vern, in his own message, expressed deep appreciation for Riva’s impact on his life and their daughter, Athena Rae.

“Thank you for changing me and making me a better person, a better son, sibling. partner, and most importantly, a better father. I will always love you, and that will never change. My love for you only grew deeper when you became the amazing mother of our Athena,” he wrote, calling Riva his only girlfriend.

Vern promised to be a good father and continue supporting Riva from afar.

“Moving forward, I'll be your silent supporter, rooting for your happiness and success from afar. I know I wasn't perfect as a partner, but I promise to be as close to a perfect father as I can for Athena,” he added.

Vern reflected on their time together, saying, “I have no regrets about chasing you, even during those moments when you wanted to walk away. You gave me five unforgettable years, and I'm endlessly grateful for them. There was a time when every part of me belonged to you, and you were the only person I dreamed of growing old with.”

“Although we're going our separate ways now, I wish you nothing but the best. Life will never be the same without you, but I'll always cherish what we had. Thank you for everything Wif,” he continued.

The couple confirmed their breakup in a joint statement, explaining that they had separated a few months ago and remained on good terms. 

“With 2024 coming to a close, we've been thinking a lot about new beginnings. We want to take a moment to address our relationship status. As many of you may have noticed, we are no longer together,” they said in the statement. “We broke up a few months ago. However, we remain on good terms and continue to co-parent Athema.”

They clarified that their decision to separate was mutual, allowing them both to grow, and that no third party was involved. They also assured their followers that they would always remain committed to their daughter.

“We also want to take a moment to thank all our RiVern fans for the support over the past 5 years. We can't thank you enough for being with us every step of the way. There are no goodbyes, because at the end of the day, we will always be Athena's parents and will continue to love & support her,” they added.

Prior to their announcement, speculations about the then couple's relationship circulated online as the two were not seen together for some time.

Riva and Vern first went public with their relationship in 2019. In April of that year, Riva introduced Vern as her suitor on her YouTube channel and they confirmed their relationship in August 2019.

In 2021, the couple announced they were expecting a child, and Athena was born in October 2022.
