Karylle on why she became a toy collector: ‘Healing the inner child’

<p>Karylle shared how her passion for toy collecting started.</p><p>In an interview with Rico Hizon in ANC&#x27;s <em>Beyond the Exchange</em>, the <em>It&#x27;s Showtime</em> host shared that she was a big fan of Sanrio toys growing up.</p><p>&quot;I was a Sanrio baby. I grew up in Greenhills, my dad had a clinic there and we would go to Gift Gate (toy store) but [they] had this rule that you can look but you can&#x27;t touch because once you touch the toys, you will buy the toys,&quot; she recalled.</p><p>During a recent trip to Japan, Karylle decided to finally purchase Hello Kitty toys.</p><p>&quot;In a recent trip to Japan, I could afford a Hello Kitty already, and [I told my dad] &#x27;Dad, I&#x27;m gonna buy some.&#x27; I started putting them in my bags and also kinda dressing up like Hello Kitty more and more with a ribbon,&quot; she shared.</p><div><iframe width="1263" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/W4DHYyPREFs" title="&#x27;Inner child healed&#x27;: Karylle talks about hobby of art toy collecting | ANC" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><p>The television host-singer considers toy collecting as a way of healing her inner child.</p><p>&quot;I think the theme for the past two years for me was healing the inner child. And you do parang find comfort in these toys that make you smile. Parang I used to have stationary, anything Hello Kitty<em></em>... I would look at each toy one by one pero look lang talaga and ang cute niya and I would spend hours in the Hello Kitty<em> </em>store, ganun lang,&quot; she said.</p><div><iframe width="1263" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/b8Zn2T-e_e4" title="K&#x27;s Drama: Exploring Art, Japanese Robots and Nostalgia with Quiccs Maiquez | EP 11" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><p>Aside from <em></em>Hello Kitty<em></em> items, Karylle is also a collector of Quiccs by Filipino toy designer Quiccs Maiquez.</p><p>&quot;I had him in my podcast, <em>K&#x27;s Drama,</em> and then you get to know the person behind the art. So with Quiccs, I would definitely spend to have it as gifts also,&quot; she relayed.</p><p>On her advice for aspiring toy collectors, the<em> It&#x27;s Showtime</em> host said: &quot;Siguro first let&#x27;s support our own like Quiccs. He has become close to our family as well.&quot;</p>
