MJ Felipe, ABS-CBN News/FileMANILA -- The Executive Committee of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) on Sunday clarified Eugene Domingo's inclusion in a segment from its awards night that has since gone viral on social media.

Spliced clips featuring the Filipina actress made it appear as though Domingo had been included in the show's "In Memoriam" segment.

However, the ExeCom of MMFF 50 said the segment that was shown during the Gabi ng Parangal  last Friday was a tribute to "luminaries both living and passed who contributed to the MMFF in the past 50 years."

"We've noted concerns regarding the video tribute featuring Ms. Eugene Domingo at the recent Gabi ng Parangal. This was intended as a tribute to luminaries both living and passed, and who have contributed to the MMFF over its 50-year history - not an In Memoriam segment," they said.

Aside from Domingo, also featured in the segment were: Joseph Estrada, Christopher de Leon, Hilda Koronel, Ruel Vernal, Amy Austria, Vilma Santos, Charo Santos, and Nora Aunor.

"We hope this clears up any misunderstandings and allows us to focus on celebrating the film industry's achievement," the ExeCom added.

Domingo co-starred with Vice Ganda on "And the Breadwinner Is…"

While the movie earned the Gender Sensitivity Award and Vice was given a Special Jury Prize, Domingo failed to garner a nomination for her role.

Domingo was submitted for the supporting actress category, according to Star Cinema.
