Multi-awarded theater director and producer Bobby Garcia has passed away. He was 55.

This was confirmed by his family to ABS-CBN News through Garcia's good friend Boy Abunda and Bettina Aspillaga. Earlier today, Abunda also confirmed the sad news in his afternoon program.

Garcia founded Atlantis Productions, one of Asia’s top theater companies. He directed and produced over 50 plays and musicals across Canada and Asia and shows that were nominated for the Tony, Drama League and Outer Critic Circle awards.

He also co-produced Broadway’s "Here Lies Love" which received four Tony nominations. He is a winner of three Aliw awards and has been inducted into their Hall of Fame. 

His last directorial project was "Request sa Radyo" that starred Lea Salonga and Dolly de Leon.
