Former actress and athlete Mikee Cojuangco, along with her husband, athlete-politician Dodot Jaworski, shared the advice they gave their son, Robbie, as he ventured into show business.

In an exclusive interview for PUSH Bets, the couple discussed their thoughts on Robbie’s decision to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. 

Mikee, who herself has experience in showbiz, expressed excitement about her son following in her footsteps.

“It’s, for me, something that was very exciting. Siyempre nanggaling din ako dito and sa akin, I know really what a good experience it was for me, all the wonderful people that I met and have to work with, the way it helped me to grow as a person. Excited din ako that my son will have the chance to do that,” Mikee said.

The DoReMi star emphasized the responsibility that comes with being in show business, noting that Robbie understands this.

“Siya na rin ang nagsabi, it’s also a responsibility so you know, so I’m just relieved he knows that,” she added.

Although Dodot was the last to learn of Robbie’s decision, he fully supports his son's career choice.

“I told naman Robbie that it’s always an option. Growing up, there were offers but I told him his priority has to be his education. When he graduated from college, sabi ko, ‘It’s up to you  if you want to pursue this new career or to open new doors and opportunities' but of course just be ready to face the responsibilities that come with it,'” the Pasig Vice Mayor remarked.

“I think he’s mature enough to make decisions for himself and we are ready full support behind him,” he continued.

Dodot also encouraged Robbie to stay professional and use his platform to make a positive impact. 

“He has to maintain a certain level of professionalism because it’s a job. It’s not something that you play around with. You can use this position, hopefully with some influence to make an impact in the lives of others,” he expressed.

Mikee also gave Robbie some practical advice about the realities of showbiz, warning him about potential temptations and urging him to stay vigilant. She also encouraged him to create lasting memories and learn from the people he works with.

“The other advice would be it’s just about really what it like to be in showbiz, what maybe some of the temptations could be, kung ano yung mga bagay na dapat maging vigilant siya,” she shared.

“And also understanding na most of the people in this industry passion nila ito. This is how they feed their families so definitely every time na sasabak siya, maiisip niya rin iyon so eh can also be excellent,” she added.

Last November, Robbie officially signed with ABS-CBN’s talent agency, Star Magic. He was accompanied by his parents during the signing.

Robbie shared that one of his motivations for joining show business was to find a greater purpose in life, inspired by the roles his family plays in serving others.

“I believe itong oportunidad na pagpasok ko po sa showbiz to discover my greater purpose. My grandparents and parents have always been the greatest inspirations and examples in my life and you know with the fame that they have been able to receive, they have also been able to provide a lot of inspiration, a lot of good work. They’ve contributed to their communities, to a lot of Filipinos so at the end of the day, I think it’s my goal,” Robbie said,

He went on: “I think by entering and taking full advantage of the opportunity to be here, I might, too, be able to accomplish that.”
