<p>Miriam Quiambao took a trip down memory lane and reminisced about her Miss Universe 1999 experience.</p><p>In an interview with Boy Abunda, the beauty queen was asked if she felt disappointed when she became 1st runner-up instead of being crowned as Miss Universe.</p><p>&quot;Oh yes, pero it was heightened nung naramdaman ko &#x27;yung sayang from the Filipino community,&quot; she admitted. &quot;Siyempre everyone was rooting for me. And the rigorous demands of being a beauty queen, of traveling, and meetings here and there might cause a lot of stress for a pregnant woman. So I believe it would be best and wise for her to step down.&quot;</p><p>In the same interview, Miriam was asked how she maintains her healthy and fit physique at the age of 49. &quot;Sinusunod ko lately is I am cutting down on sugar, carbs, rice, pasta. Maximizing a lot of vegetables and protein. And then I try to go to the gym about mga 2 to 3 times a week. I am trying to get back to running and my goal is to run for a marathon for my 50th birthday next year,&quot; she said.</p>
