Sofronio Vasquez thanks Vice Ganda for inspiring him to dream

Tawag ng Tanghalan alum Sofronio Vasquez expressed his gratitude towards Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda for inspiring him to dream. During an interview on the noontime show earlier today, November 29, the Filipino singer shared how the comedian-host is always so supportive of younger artists. 

Sofronio is currently part of the Top 8 of The Voice USA after impressing the audience and coaches with his rendition of "Crying" during the playoffs.

Prior to making it to The Voice USA, Sofronio started his career through auditioning in several singing competitions in the country. He joined the blind auditions of The Voice Philippines several years ago but was unable to make any coaches turn their chairs for him.

This time around, all four coaches of The Voice USA turned their chairs in their hopes to get him as part of their team. The Tawag ng Tanghalan alum admitted that this was all still a dream for him as he didn’t expect anything.

“Sumali na ako sa The Voice Philippines walang lumingon sa akin and ten years later, napasali ako sa The Voice America and the naging four chair (turner) ako. Dati pinapangarap ko lang sana kahit di kami lingunan, kahit 0.1 second lang makita kami sa TV,” he shared.

Sofronio gave credit to Vice for pushing him to dream even bigger. During his stint at the Tawag ng Tanghalan a few years back, he was able to reach the semifinals. 

“Thank you for inspiring me to dream kasi kahit nung lumalaban pa kami, she’s trying to make sure na lahat ng mga contestants or lahat ng mga talent na dadaan sa Tawag ng Tanghalan stage ay napapansin. Binibigyan niya talaga ng highlight. Ako, inspired talaga ako sa kanya so thank you ate,” he said.

When asked for advice he could give to the younger generation of talents, the Filipino singer hoped that they would never give up on their dreams. He claimed that Filipinos are one of the most talented people that could be at par with anyone if they have the right mindset.

“As cliche at it sounds, talagang mangarap lang kayo kasi ako pinangarap ko siya back then. Yung mga aspirations natin, mga dreams natin, talagang ibibigay kung gusto mo talaga,” he advised.

“Whether this time o kelan man, kung gusto mo lang talagang gawin. Nakikita ko talaga na itong nangyari sa akin ay mangyayari sa lahat ng mga bata or katulad ko na Pinoy kasi napakagaling natin talaga. Ako masasabi ko nagagalingan sila sa atin so ibig sabihin magaling talaga tayo in any aspect sa buhay,” he added.

Sofronio will continue his journey in The Voice USA as he tries to win a slot in the semifinals this coming December 2.
