MANILA — Kapamilya talent Darren Espanto and Kapuso star Julie Anne San Jose will be the new voices of the iconic Pinoy Big Brother theme “Sikat ang Pinoy,” giving it a fresh and exciting rendition for the highly anticipated PBB Celebrity Collab Edition premiering on March 9.

Both artists shared they are honored to be part of the groundbreaking collaboration between entertainment giants.

“Ang cool everytime mapapanuod PBB boses na namin, ang cool,” Espanto said in a video teaser.

“It is a dream come true for everybody. Siguro sa part ng artist because we have been waiting for this moment for GMA and ABS-CBN artists,” San Jose added.

“Sikat Ang Pinoy,” written by Jonathan Manalo, was first interpreted by Toni Gonzaga and Sam Milby.

“They will hear a new sound from the song. Our take is more modern and new sound to it. Iba pakiramdam bagong henerasyon makakarinig sa baging version ng song released 19 years ago pa,” Espanto explained.

As the PBB house moves to a new home with GMA, it will also be welcoming new hosts. Joining the Kapamilya roster which includes Bianca Gonzalez, Robi Domingo, Kim Chiu, Enchong Dee, Melai Cantiveros-Francisco, and Alexa Ilacad are two of Sparkle GMA Artist Center's brightest stars — Gabbi Garcia and Mavy Legaspi.

“This is the first time in history will air on GMA. 50 percent excited, 50 percent nervous. It is an entirely different audience. Paano kami tatanggapin ng Kapuso loyal fans, will they like the format or storytelling? That is why we appreciate Mavy and Gabbi joining us, pamilyar sa kanila ang Kapuso fans,” Gonzalez reasoned.

Garcia shared that hosting the show is a full-circle moment for her as a longtime fan, having grown up watching Pinoy Big Brother and even going so far as to audition herself.

'PBB' marks 20th year with GMA Network collab

“Nagpapaalam ako sa parents ko kung pwede po ba mag-extend ng bedtime so I can watch and finish the whole episode,” the Kapuso actress recalled.

“I lined up in Mall of Asia. I remember there were five thousand auditionees, I was three thousand nine hundred something. I lined up from 9am to 5pm the next day,” she added.

For the first time, talents from both Sparkle and Star Magic will share the roof of the PBB house. 

“In the past we had celebrity editions we had from different industries, sports or social media. For the first time puro artista. This time we are doing a standalone celebrity edition,” Gonzalez added. 

"Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition" will premiere on GMA Network and will be playing on weeknights at 10 p.m. and on weekends at 6:15 p.m. via GMA Network.
